Love the Taiwan series, it looks amazing and somewhere I hadn’t even considered travelling. I am now thinking of changing my plans to (solo) travel to Taiwan instead of Cambodia and Myanmar 🤔 Would love to know your opinion on whether it would be worth it 😊

I live in Thailand so I've been to Cambodia and Myanmar several times. Taiwan is like nothing other. I highly highly recommend it.

@@yilin888 Can agree. I was invited to climb Xueshan by my manager from my old workplace. Thought it was just a good ol hike (i was 100kg and fat at the time). Boy I was cursing my decision with every step I took. Got hit by altitude sickness around 1km from the peak and had to practically crawl to the top.

For me, the Budgeteers is the best KZfaq channel. I only discovered The Budgeteers 3 weeks ago and I have already watched every episode and series. @@TheBudgeteers, "kway tio so si boh?" is Hokkien (a Chinese dialect very prevalent in Taiwan) for "Have you seen the key?". I infer that she might have left her key somewhere at home since she was asking someone to look for her keys from her mobile on that hill.

Yeah thats right. Totally true. But Damian knows he gets headaches easily since he's done big treks like this before, so he's no beginner. Nevertheless its best to be aware of altitude sickness because its seriously dangerous.

I made this comment when you were in Mexico but my record is 10 days waiting for a ride, in Charters Towers in the Queensland desert, Australia. On day 10 I got a ride to Prairie which was only 90ks away. I ended up jumping a goods train and spending 27hrs to Mt Isa. There is a long story but you'll have to read the book

Great video! Really shows what backpacking's like rather than just throwing some random tourist sites. About the tea part, high quility tea can cost more than 300 us dollars for 600 grams, depends on the altitude and technique they plant it. Not saying that you can definitely not afford it, just most people wouldn't spend so much on a small bag of tea and maybe they were affraid you might buy something you don't really need only for returning their hospitality. Anyway hope you guys didn't feel offended.

I did not enjoy Jiufen at all. I went on a Saturday evening. I literally could not even get my arms up because it was crazy filled with tourists, I think more than what you guys had in this video lol. I wish I had gone on a weekday maybe. Or maybe saw that spot you guys went to for some peace and quiet. Shifen was even worse. The train to the old street was like riding a train in India. I’m sure Juifen and Shifen are nice, just maybe go to it on weekday or something.

That's a popiah (that's what we call it in Singapore in the Hokkien dialect and Taiwan should be calling it the same thing too). The "skin" (薄餅皮) is a soft, thin paper-like crepe or pancake made from wheat flour.
