The best thing to come out of wearing masks when you go out is being able to hide my cold sores.

Yes! I’ve been getting them on my lip for like 7 years. I would get them 1-2 times a year and at the beginning of this year I got it in January it would go away for 4 days and come back I was like that for like almost 3 months and it finally went away and I just got it again 3 days ago and it’s really bad! I got it all over my lip my cheeks and my nose and even my hands and fingers. I think it’s because of the hormones because I am pregnant. I use abreva but it’s not going away I don’t even know what to do anymore. When ever I have to go out I always wear a mask because it is so embarrassing it looks so bad like if a burned my face. And on top of that it burns and itches. The people that don’t get them are so lucky 😫
@kaande6453
@kaande6453 3 жыл бұрын
@@e.n3263 also I just don’t think abreva works. Not for me personally plus it’s so expensive for such a small amount. I’ve learned to just leave it alone. Don’t even moisturize it at all because it loves moisture. It sucks but just let it dry out and don’t touch it or aggravate it.

@@kaande6453 when you wear a mask, do you put something on the cold sore so it doesn't spread to the rest of the face? Like an occlusive 'cerave healing oitment'? I just got my very first one on my lip today and I dunno if wearing a mask could spread it to the rest of the face... Freaking out
@kaande6453

@@ch3rieable Yes I do wear a patch if I’m wearing a mask. Sometimes I just put a circle bandaid over it instead of a clear patch because the patches can rip the cold sore open .

Carmex works wonders, applying it all day long was easy alongside salicylic acid face wash cerave. It was gone in as little as 3 days. I used the face wash as a "spot treatment" so i didnt rub it in so much as very lightly put it on the blister and left it on less than a minute 4x daily but immediately applied the carmex after rinsing off the face wash(make sure you wash it off completely too) the outcome was truly unreal. I've been doing this everytime I get them and it's always worked

I hate these cold sores. I've had them for years and they show up out of the blue. They look horrible, and they're very noticeable. Sometimes I'm asked about them. Very embarrassing. Thank you Dr. Dray for this very important information. I will talk to my doctor about this and see if I can get that medication you suggested.

Thanks for reminding people not to shame others when they see cold sores. I was kissed on the cheek by an infected aunt when I was 6 months old, and have scaring because they used to get so bad when I was a kid. Many people get this virus as children, and it’s hard enough to be a kid as it is without the whispers of “your child has herpes” comments.

People making fun of other people for it is so stupid! Especially since they can still get it too. I’ve always considered myself very lucky for not having it, this summer I took a sip of my friend’s drink who had it, now I’m having a breakout for the first time and so much empathy for what you went through as a child. So hopeful for medicines that can cure it in the future so these little kids don’t get this! 🤞 fingers crossed

I’ve been struggling with it all my life and had these outbreaks every month through out fall and winter. About 10 years ego we had an exchange program employee from Europe who saw me struggling with this and he very carefully approached me and asked if he can recommend a more or less of a “permanent ““cure”. He told me to start taking double dose of vitamin C during the times I have my most outbreaks. It’s been 10 years since then and I haven’t had a singe case of outbreak.I told everyone I knew that had it. It worked magics for them as well and they’ve been thanking me every time they see me:) I watch Dr. Drays videos and love them. Will defiantly recommend to everyone her suggestions as well.

I have had cold sores in the past and while on accutane I had SEVERAL outbreaks, but I didn’t realize and I also conveniently have a skin picking problem. With that being said, I feel over the last two years it has spread all over my body. I’ve gone to the dermatologist several times and she’s said it’s “folliculitis”. It seems to go away but always comes back. It first started on my arms, and areas seem to clear up but come back. It’s really taken a toll on me and I’m actually grateful for the pandemic bc I have had a reason to not go out and participate in anything.

Thanks Dr Dray, this is very useful! I noticed that some lipsticks trigger cold sores on my lips in addition to stress and sleep deprivation. I used to get them a lot on my left upper lip. Actually the lip line in that area is not as sharp anymore after so many cycles of cold sores. Lately I don't get them as much. When I feel the tingling I put on some over the counter medication and sometimes it helps. When I get them I use many applications of La Roche Posay Lipikar or Avene Cicalfate- somehow keeping the wound (gently) clean and moisturized improves the healing time and the size of the wound.

I’m now 53 and starting to skip/miss periods, but I still get cold sores in what would be the week before my period. I don’t get them every month, but probably every other. @@melissamorello1700 I met this man on a page when I was seeking for help, I saw someone's testimony about his good work, taught it was too good to be true, but I decided to try working with him, my first attempt and the way he speaks with him about his work being positive gives me better reasons to work with him, he did all he ought to do and later on sent me his herbs which I started using and after some days I started seeing results and till date I'm not longer experiencing any disease or skin infection I'm sure he's the beat just a try can make you know how good he is

I've never had an outbreak happen right after one went away and this really sucks because I have a big work of him in a couple days that I'm going to have to cancel because it's so embarrassing... Anytime I start feeling that tingling (usually once a yr, if at all, around my period), I immediately use Abreva as it definitely helps keep the cold sore from becoming full blown & unsightly and shortens it’s duration as you stated. If I’m out of Abreva, I use the blue Listerine on a cotton ball and apply it to my lip under a band-aid. The menthol really keeps the sore from erupting into the vesicles. I actually find it to be better than Abreva.

I was pulled over one afternoon ( break light out ) by a cop that had a severe case of herpes outbreak on both bottom and top lip. It looked so incredibly painful. Being a nurse , it took everything I had to not say something to offer some type of help with what he could do. Two things stopped me. First was , I’m not a doctor so offering medical advise .... secondly and the main reason was that I didn’t want to make him feel shame or embarrassment. It was so bad that I’m sure it was painful but it’s a sensitive subject even though it is a medical condition and nothing to be ashamed of. I’ve always felt bad about that but I was so torn. Who knows if keeping quiet was right but it sure didn’t feel right as I pulled away .

I want to first say I am thankful to God almighty for making me see this day and secondly to Dr.dohgo who restored my health back. I have been a Herpes virus patient for some time now, I have been running here and there looking for help/cure but none could help. I ran into a testimony by someone who testified how she was cured of a terrible disease by Dr.dohgo So I decided to contact the herbal doctor. I explained to him, and he said he can cure me. We started the process and he prepared herbs and sent them to me in my country and gave me directions on how I am to use it. I followed his directions and now To God be the glory he could cure me with his herbal mixture. I say once again thanks to Dr.dohgo for curing me of my Herpes with his herbs. And in case you want to be cured of your disease too you can contact email:( doctordohgo@ gmail . com) call Whatsapp Number +234 706 214 2293 AND Dr.dohgo SAY HE HAVE CURE FOR THE FOLLOWING *ECZEMA *AUTO IMMUNE BOOSTER *CANCER *VERTIGO *CHLAMYIDA *ALS *DIABETES *LUPUS *GENITAL WARTS PENIS ENLARGEMENT *HIV *AUTISM *ACID REFLUX & HEART... .

After 25 years of getting these, I will recommend the version of Llysine that has a 1:1 with monolaurin. It is the only thing that effectively stops herpes in its tracks other than the prescribed antivirals. I do use lip balm with SPF as well. I usually get mine before my period due to lowered immune system during that time. I also have Valtrex on hand for when it is just a time when I can't afford to remember to take the Llysine every day. This version of llysine really packs a punch and is affordable to boot.

Dr., do you recommend licorice extract topically during an outbreak and in a lesser dose for prevention? It’s been working incredibly well for me in preventing outbreaks. I used to get them every two months or so, now I havent had one in over a year and when I do have them they are small, pathetic sores that don’t breach the surface all that much. I know there’s minimal studies on it in relation to cold sores, but I also want to make sure that I’m treating my skin well. Thoughts?

I'm so glad that you talked about the needless stigma surrounding herpes viruses. My understanding is that there are about 8 different kinds that affect humans most commonly including the ones that cause chicken--pox, shingles, cold sores, & infectious mononucleosis. When I developed acute mono back in my mid-20's, my doctor explained that most people have about 3 kinds of herpes viruses on average that are present but dormant within their body (potentially since childhood), & the right conditions trigger them. I just happened to have the particular one for mono (Epstein-Barr), & running myself down from busyness/stress triggered it into a full-blown systemic infection. People who had chicken pox as children can often develop shingles in later life from stress, and those are from varicella-zoster (also in the herpes virus family). Nobody would think to laugh at someone with shingles, but somehow, people with cold sores are fair game. Go figure! 🙄 😉 🌻 🌹 🏵️

I've had cold sores since I was a kid. I've taken Abreva and Valtrex and everything else. I've also had bell's palsey twice in my 20s from cold sore outbreaks attacking my facial nerve (nothing quite as enjoyable as having a stroke victim look where half your face doesn't move for several months)before I started supplementing with Lysine. It is the only thing that has worked for me 100% of the time. Now, I only take Lysine when I get a cold sore and haven't had one for a couple years now, when I used to get them every couple of months. I can't recommend Lysine enough. The supplements cost almost nothing and worth a shot if you're afflicted.
