Many fans of "Wicked Tuna" have seen Capt. Dave catch giant bluefin tuna of the coast of Gloucester, Massachusetts, but fishing for tunas during winter off the coast of North Carolina is an entirely different technique. While most bluefin tunas caught in the shallow, cool, green waters of the Gulf of Maine are hooked from an anchored or drifting vessel, often times using live baits, tuna fishing off the Outer Banks of North Carolina is a completely different technique and most tunas caught off North Carolina in the deep, warm, blue waters of the Gulf Stream are caught by trolling with a small baitfish called ballyhoo. Captain Jake and @NatGeoWild @Wicked Tuna Captain Dave Marciano demonstrate how to rig baits to catch tuna by trolling. We show highly effective how-to tricks and tips for rigging ballyhoos on fluorocarbon leader with Sea Witch style trolling lures as seen on the series "Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks" . Filmed by Joe Marciano on board the F/V Falcon in Wanchese, North Carolina, January 30, 2019.
