Coast of Alabama here. You guys are hands-down the best saltwater fishing show that airs. I have a ton of other shows recorded (everyone that comes on saltwater related) , but I have just about given up on the others. You guys keep it fishing and informative the whole show without all the smoke & mirrors, theatrics, and spending half the show talking about the port you're fishing out of! Your magazine, tips & techniques have worked for me time and time again. Keep up the awesome work and please don't change! TL

Been thinking of running a 40' planer off the stern cleat, then double snap swivel/rubber band setup to send a DTX 220 Minnow that also dives to 40'. Theoretically, I would be able to get the lure 80' down - will this work? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Amazing! great episode! do you have an idea how many pounds of drag a #8 planer put on your rod? how fast are you trolling?
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 7 жыл бұрын
Drag will vary depending on speed, depth, size of planer weight and plate, etc. In any case, you need some sturdy tackle to accomplish the correct presentation. Speed is 6-8 knots, again depending on prevalent conditions.

Great video guys! I have a question regarding the distances to let out each planer.. I use a #4 and and #6 how far should I let out each to avoid tangles when I turn?
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Fish the larger #6 closer to the boat, say 100-150 ft, and the lighter #4 further away, like 200 ft., so it will essentially ride higher in the water column. When spaced properly, you can practically do figure 8s. - Capt Mike

WTH does one have to do with another! If you don't like her, unsubscribe! There is no reason to bash her in an unrelated video! You're surprised she can't compete with someone with sponsors such as SeaVee, Mercury, Gost, Frigid-Rigid, VMC, MotorGuide, Bio Green Clean has a higher production value then a relative newbie to the business. I subscribed to see her butt, but over time her videos continue to get better and better! She is learning the business and her channel is evolving. Does her videos match these for content, no. At least not yet, but they're still entertaining!

How do you keep all those lines out there and reel in the tuna in the beginning and not get tangled with the other lines? Might sounds like a dumb question, but I'm guessing there is some tactic used to make that happen with out tangles. Thanks and i love your show and magazine
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. When you hook up on the troll, pull the throttles back but keep the boat moving forward, never stop. This will keep the lines stretched straight out behind the boat and will allow you to fight/reel in fish unobstructed. - Capt Mike

Depends on size of snook we're targeting but with live shrimp, I really like to keep the presentation stealthy and use 3/0 or 4/0 in line circles.,

Are those store bought ballyhoo? I can not find a tutorial on double hook rigging a ballyhoo with both hook points down. Its usually a one hook up and one down, which I don't want in upper and one in lower jaw incase the fish tries to work it out. I found a video from Capt. Harry's but they cut down the entire backbone of the bait, not sure how I feel about that.

How did you rig does ballyhoo's? with 2 hooks?
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 7 жыл бұрын
Simple two-hook ballyhoo rig with the eye of the trailing hook inserted into the leading hook and a short length of single strand American Fishing Wire. While nothing beats fresh, you also have the option of using store-bought pre-rigged ballyhoo. Either Bait Masters of South Florida or Bionic Bait both provide excellent pre-rigged baits that get the job done when you don't have access to fresh baits or don't know how to rig them yourself.

Great Video Guys. Question, Ive read that planers dive at about a 45 degree angle and can achieve greater depths the longer they're fished out back. I normally fish a #3 on 50lb powerpro about 100-150ft behind the boat figured it was hitting 20-25ft depth. I'm thinking about adding a #8 hispeed. So my question is; won't my #3 continue to dive down deeper on the longer run, while my close #8 is run shorter to the transom? Was planning on running 100' of downrigger braid off the transom cleat to the high speed looking to achieve 50ft depth, while having my #3 150' back. Is that #3 going to interfere with my #8? Thanks for advise or info.
@FloridaSportFishing
@FloridaSportFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Fish the larger #8 closer to the boat for sure, and the lighter #3 way back behind it. Thats the ideal set up for two planers. Make sure your leaders are 75-100 ft behind planers. And I would bump up the 50 lb to at least 80 lb. on the #3. - Capt Mike

#8 is a big planer and will get deep, I would put it 80-100 ft. back. Depending on speed, etc, it will certainly get 30-40 ft. down. - Capt Mike

This is amateur hour. I run a #5 planer on 300lb mono(about35 feet) tied off to the transom. It will Pull it 9 knots all day long with no stress on your rod so you can use the lightest of rods. After you have the planer in the water Then open a swivel & put the planer line threw it . Then you rubber band to your line on the rod with the bait in the water. Close swivel. Open the spool & down she goes. set how ever far you wanna fish. Fish hits pops rubber band. I only pull planer in by hand if fish is green near the boat. Just use a new swivel every time & when the day is done pull up planer & retrieve all your swivels. Very simple
