Mine wasn't working in the down direction. I took the body panel off, released the contactor, and beat the crap out of it with a 1/2" wrench. Works like new!

For people reading this later - solenoids fail to working intermittently. So you can get by sometimes if you open the solenoid give everything a wiggle and a tap and a little splash of wd40 and you are up and running again. Most likely a solenoid issue if it only works in one direction (unless your wiring is terrible)

very helpful. would be good to take the next step and demonstrate fixing each issue.

Very helpful! After putting the battery directly to the motor and seeing the motor turn, I decided to try powering through the solenoid again. Lo and behold, this time it worked through the solenoid too. I wonder if maybe there was ice inside the motor that melted from the direct power?

I'm a new ATV owner, I just bought a used 2005 Polaris sportsman 700 and the winch doesn't work. I find alot of videos on guys showing things that might be wrong but no videos on "how to" do anything on the winch. Anything electrical to me just leaves me in the dust. How do I replace a switch? How do I find a cilinoid and replace it? I didnt even know you could replace the motor. But I liked your video tho, I just need more replacing things video

Watched your video at 8pm on January 15, 2024. Question: When engaging the IN button on the corded remote of the winch mounted on my side by side, I hear a click on the control box next to the battery, but nothing happens at the winch. Engaging the OUT button works the winch just fine. I also noticed that direct connecting jumpers from the battery to the winch to spool IN really heats up the jumper cables and the winch turns slower than when I reverse jump it to spool OUT. Any ideas?

I had this issue but the problem for me was a broken brake spring. One end of the brake spring was broken off (likely from yanking on the cable with my machine instead of a a slow steady pull). For my Warn Vantage 3000 there’s a brake part kit that contains the brake spring for CDN$45 or so.

I think as long as the winch works either up or down it means the winch is not the issue then if you can hear clicking this means the switch is good so issue would be in the solenoid. no need to check winch with battery cables if you can get the winch to go up or down with the switch.

Great video I do have a question for you every once in a while seems my winch winds in a couple inches. All by itself with truck motor off.just enough to bend my front fold down license plate Holder. That’s how I noticed My winch was doing this.operates perfect when I’m using it with the remote and/or with the cable remote. I don’t understand the ghostly turning on and turning off by its self? I know weird right. Lol. Thanks in advance I know it’s an old post.😂

I have two of the same winch on my ice house, bought at the same time in December. One works great, the other acts like it’s not getting enough juice. Just doesn’t have the pull the other one has. Possible solutions? Trouble shooting? Both run off the same battery. Connections appear to be okay. Multi-meter shows 12+ volts at the winch.

This pass weekend plowing my long driveway on my ATV , roughly 3 hours in the plow would raise only slightly. When I was stuck I tried using the winch to pull out, spool turn then stopped turning under load even though the winch motor was running. This is a champion 3500 lbs 6 month old winch. Any suggestions? Thanks.

So if theres no clicking what does that mean? We think the battery is good in the wireless remote (the light turns on and is bright). The battery for the winch is charged but nothing happens when retract and extend buttons are pressed.
@MotoAllianceTech7 жыл бұрын
If the contactor isn't clicking at all, it usually means that the power supply wire on the switch is disconnected, so the switch isn't sending a signal to the contactor to fire.

@MotoAllianceTech8 жыл бұрын
+jim Lipari I'm not very familiar with that winch but it's certainly possible that they have integrated the contactor and the switch. If your switch is a lot bigger and thicker than the switches in the video then that is probably the case.

What if I'm getting 12 volts after the solenoid in both directions, and I hook up jumper cables to the winch and that spins in both directions but when I attach the leads from the solenoid to the winch I get nothing? I'm stumped, I even cleaned the ring terminals thinking somehow not enough current was getting through.

@MotoAllianceTech8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Cone Does it do the same thing when you connect the winch directly to the battery like in the video? If it does then you probably have a burned coil in your motor. Otherwise you may be losing voltage somewhere down the line. Give us a call (1-866-527-7637) and we can get you taken care of.

I had a bad contactor, power on the battery side but not on the accessory side. I put in a new contactor (50a circuit breaker) and the winch worked fine for about 5 minutes but now it just sits there and clicks about every ten seconds but when I push the up or down switch nothing happens. So I put another 40a breaker on and same thing, just clicks every ten seconds or so. Ideas?

It sounds like a burned motor. What do you see when you disconnect the contactor and connect direct power to your winch?

Thanks for the video. my question is the following. I have Axon 45s installed. But its works in wired way. When try it in both ways (in and out) it works with clicks. It turns and stops, turns and stops. Please see the video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g9uUldNi3cvZdX0.html). Any idea what causes this? I think this model is with integrated contractor, and no solenoids are there correct? Will appreciate your help.

You never, you said later video, never answered to question, how to check the solenoid. The rest is common sense.
