I've been trying to unjam my machine for an hour. Your technique was the only video I saw that worked. Thank you

When your machine is having an issue DO NOT call the company who sold it to you, unless it was Tecre. I put myself through 2 weeks of hell (and of course no ability to work) dealing with the dealer's REALLY bad advice, which didn't work. They ere about to have me ship the machine to them and pay them a minimum of $50 and 2-3 weeks more waiting, just to look at it. It was gonna cost almost a $100. We realized they weren't who i initially bought the machine from 4 yrs prior (mistake in my notes), so i called Tecre. Took minutes, and i finally got a total understanding of the mechanics of the machine. I didn't have the money to do the other way, and lord knows what they would have tried to stick me for (she said the die was probably scratched, and it's cheaper to replace the machine!). Thank you Brian and Tecre. I only regret not calling sooner.

oh, and didn't just have 2 mylars or 2 pieces of paper or domes. I had gotten distracted and tried to put one of each, but TWICE - a double decker of button parts. How i did that is a mystery to me, but when i get distracted I GET DISTRACTED. lol

A common mishap!

@@tecreco7836 very true. I've gotten a shell stuck many times. I usually can feel that the lever isn't coming down easily enough, and can stop myself and pull the pieces out before they are fully crimped, and salvage the paper and mylar successfully. But to get TWO sets of shell/paper/mylar jammed together was a special treat lol

This is exactly what happened to ours - and I was in something of a panic about it. This technique worked perfectly! These machines are excellent and very sturdy and reliable so I want to keep it in good working order! You are a lifesaver!

Thank you so much! I made my very first button and jammed it right away from using paper that was too thick. This was exactly the solution I needed, worked like a charm. Won't be making that mistake again!

Tecre, thank you SO MUCH! I was panicked, and these days you just don't find this kind of care and assistance from a vendor. Very well done, too - very comprehensive, and calm presentation! I used a wooden ruler, and did both sides gently, twice. I was SO SURE i had no extra parts, but i was wrong - 2 pieces of 32# gloss stock.

I have a couple older machines - they are starting to mis-crimp - I cleaned out the dies really well one one of the them and that seemed to help - Can you recommend the proper way to either polish or lubricate the dies to keep them from mis-crimping or jamming, assuming there are no physical problems with the machine

what if it's jammed on the other side?

nothing is working and this is the first button im making. its a book page im using and if this button maker cant handle that then I better get a full refund because others can and I was under the impression this was a quality machne considering I spent a hundred dollars more than the cheap ones.

These machines are great quality - you probably accidentally got two pieces in there instead of one, or two pieces of paper (graphic) or two sheets of mylar - it's easy to do - but the machine HAS to have the correct pieces put into it in order to work properly. If you use it properly it will work like a charm! It is SO much better than other button makers on the market, it is unbelievable!
