One interesting dynamic that you may see in popular anime and manga today is when a hero character slowly turns into a villain over the course of the story. Sometimes, the change is unexpected, but at other times, this change can come as quite the shock to the audience. Hm.. I've been working on a story where one of the main character slowly turns villainous temporarily. But it's more along the lines of trauma. Kind of like a form of revenge, as they were an unwilling enforcer character that was out into a tough spot by the true villian. Most of the antagonists are more or less hurt people lashing out at innocents.

Ohh that sounds really interesting. I always find it compelling to read about villains who simply went through difficult times, and their current character is a result of what they have experienced. I think it shows a really realistic and well developed character.

Just the guide I needed. I was planing on writing a story where the main characters/the couple is on opposite sides. One on the "good", the other on the "bad". I wanted them the switch roles later in the story. And this video was very helpful. Thank you a lot.

@@midnightXcross Yeah my series it’s called Among The Light...it’s basically like inspired from like Mass Effect, Cyberpunk, John Wick universe, with Dragon Ball Z influences...I know it sounds crazy but I’ve already kinda finished it and it all worked out and the main female protagonist is going to go down this path but at the climax stop because we’re trying to define in the story what is a hero...? What is truly heroic..? It has all sorts of stuff in it and my artwork of it is inspired by Ilya Kushinov I really hope you get to see it one day...I kinda just spent the last six years making it and finally finishing up and this video just help by adding subtle signs and nuances to it

I have a very conflicted protagonist. His main sin is pride, but most of his motivation is very down to earth and changing. Like not wanting to die, be bullied, wants to be loved by his family, wants to be recognized as a member of society, wants his father to cuddle him once a while and he wants his loved ones to be safe. He needed to maintain a fake identity to attend school so he can one day become a doctor. He actually dreams of saving lives. By a mixture of economic necessity and emotional blackmail, he is forced to become an executioner when really, he's very much underaged and not fit for the job at all. His understanding of social norms is rather poor, since he didn't really have any friends growing up and he lived in an era before abuse-ed. He reads etiquette books to compensate but there is only so much one can learn academically.

A bit late, but it’s extremely hard to pull it off. Fallen Heroes are extremely hard to redeem since they’ve been on both sides and have actively chosen to be on the side of “evil” because they no longer believe in the “good side”. But if you can do it, I’ll be looking forward to read it

Question: Idk how to write this character. He is a Lion King oc, son of Kiara and Kovu, heir to the throne. Kovu is murdered and here will be some of what I have planned: -Funny and very proud, sometimes mean to brother as a cub -Wrath is his sin -Goal: Revenge against character who killed his father AND the killer's followers. -He believes his family is foolish for not being "heros" or onboard with his ideology. -He is consumed by his hate and anger where he ends up murdering. He feels a little guilt from time to time, but strongly doesn't gaf. -His family tries to get him to the good side

I have a villian that is a capon (leader of a cult grp) that was done wrong by the society but has a cjange of heart when he fights the mc . He even goes to jail and has some redemption too

One of the best example I can think of would be Eren Yeager, from Attack on Titans (SPOILERS ALERT). He begins as your average shonen protagonist, then ends up as the BIG villain who gain too much powers and starts a genocide because he thinks it's the only way to protect his friends. Ironically, the old villains and old friends of the protagonist have to work and forgive each others to kill Eren at the end.

This helps a lot, but my question is in my story I’m having the main theme by the end of the story being that there is no good side in war, both think there doing the right thing and think the others are doing the wrong one and I’m trying to make it seem like the perspective it’s told from shifts by the end of the story and I’m curious how you’d do an entire group rather than just a character, maybe I’m overthinking this I don’t know

If I were creating a story like this, I would create about eight or more main characters, and have four on one side and four on the other. As I progressed through the story, I would take the time to focus on each character and their perspective. I think a good example of this technique is in the manga '7 Seeds'. It has one of the largest casts I have ever seen in a manga, but they do it very well. 😊

I've got a character if you could give me your thoughts? He's an immortal character due to his healing ability, he's a shapeshifter and had ways to be killed but he got the wrong person mad and those weaknesses were removed. He was experimented on, giving him ice and electric powers, the healing ability, and he's unable to sleep because of nightmares from it. He started out as a hero but slowly turned into a villain, killing enemies and slowly losing care for the lives of good people. He started becoming a better character when he gained a family after adopting kids he rescued from an abusive family, but he still helped both heros and villains when they needed him, at this point he's more of a antihero, now you're probably wondering why he went from antihero to villain, and thats because.. well, he's immortal, he'd had to watch his family and friends die, knowing he'd never be able to see them again. It wore him down, and he started doing everything he could to die, this is when he ticked off the wrong person. My character hadn't known about the ways he could be killed, so he'd tried picking fights in the hopes it would result in his death. It hadn't worked, and had actually done the exact opposite. He then grew angrier and angrier at the world, because they had no idea what he was going through, and went full on homicidal villain, trying to show people a fragment of his pain, along with the hopes someone would kill him just so he'd stop. That hadn't worked so he'd been put into a state of stasis, but a villain decades in the future is going to let him out with the promise that they will kill him if he helps them take over the world...

Not really, an imposter implies they weren't "good" from the beginning, with their reveal showing their true nature

Question what if the villain once hero had no choose i ask because i thought making this one guy who was hero to one characters in my idea into a romaian werewolf you their werewolves are usely the undead of a violent person you see the hero name was wicka king wicka you see he was against wars so to keep enemies from attacking his small kingdom he used fear and reason he hero because you see one characters name em who like aunt of the main character live in wicka kingdom for three years she fight side with him it battle you see during those three years wicka and em grow a father daughter like relationship and how die was that one fear gods from Greek want revange on his father ares death and wicka did not want his people suffer so he allowed the god to kill him since he was a child of one who kill ares anyway dose that sound like bad villain from hero character

Yes, this type of character still works as a hero to villain. A character can become a 'villain', even if they had no choice, or did not want to become that way.

Is it ok to make turn the protagonist into a villain? So one of the villain will be the protagonist ?

Yes, a protagonist can be a villain! Keep in mind that the protagonist of a story is simply the main character (the character who essentially tells the story.) Therefore, that protagonist can be a good character, or a bad character. I think a good example of this is Death Note, where Light is the protagonist of the story (since he tells the story from his perspective), but he is clearly more of a villain. In that example, L is the antagonist, simply because he is the obstacle in Light's path, even though L is the hero. I hope that makes sense. 😊

@@midnightXcross i am gonna change the prospective of the story. For example, The main character / protagonist / the hero was doing good work. But slowly he turned into a villain. And the story shifts to an another character. This character was a villain at the beginning of the story but he turned into a good person. Now he is the new main character / protagonist / hero. The story will completely shift & he will be the one to tell the story. Is it ok to change the story prospective like that?
