Thank you for this video... this saved my butt. Pipe connected to the backflow on the outside of house burst. Happened to see your video and shut off the water immediately. Huge relief !

Thanks for the video. This saved my butt big time. Had a sprinkler pipe burst in the middle of the night in 20 degree weather and was able to shut off the supply before it cost me a fortune and eroded half my property. Extremely grateful!

And my house I do not have backflow shut off so I got to keep looking to find the shut-off valve for the sprinkler

Unfortunately Yes, most of the time we find the shut off in the house when there is no backflow device. But there is no rule on that. When there is no backflow device the system was probably installed by someone who didn’t understand what they were doing and the rules go out the window. Good luck.

What if I think I have a line break between water meter and the sprinkler shut off valve? Do I have to shut off water at the meter for the whole house?

Will you still have water inside home if you turn it off from the back flow?

This is the backflow device for your sprinkler system and will not effect the water in the house. Yes you will still have water inside your home.

how do you insulate that PVB system for winter?

Hi Pablo! In the winter we turn off the water supply, use an air compressor to remove all the water from the system, and leave the test ports open as a procaution. This will prevent any freeze damage to the system.
