In this short video ,I will demonstrate how to turn water supply On or Off to your Washer and Dryer.
I am using LG Washer and Dryer and Builder Grade Washer Dryer valves that turns upwards or perpendicular.

I thought this was the opposite and imagine my surprise when I went to disconnect the hose, lol. Thanks for confirming.

Mine was the opposite. Pointing up meant on, and pointing parallel meant it was turned off. Must be the brand. I have a Sioux Chief brand.
