Deterring them is fine, once you deter, pay attention to top center of your screen, it will tell you if you successfully get the tech. Its still RNG but of course a master craftman/porter has higher chance to give you the tech. One more thing, that's not the issue on these tribe exclusive armor, the main issue is when you planned to actually make them. Those tribe specific cloth has tiers too, you need the specific tier cloth to craft the specific armor. The drop rate per run for me ia 1-2 cloth per barracks sometime none. And you need around 4-5 per piece of armor, you got 4 piece. The grind made me not do another armor set.

The low RNG to learn it alone made me not farm for the unlock.

No need to recruit them, just deter is fine. You will get the receipe the time u deter them

lol yeah that's how I got the recipes ...detered every porter & craftsman I saw & left them on the ground but also found out you can leave npcs on said ground for a couple of rl hours which was very informative since I don't have a llama yet.

I think with the Tribe Cloth, You gotta make sure they aren't "Alarmed" Cause thats when they start hiding everything. It's much harder to grab the Adv Cloth in the snow mountain since they are stronger. Btw the moment that porter tried to kill your tribesmen and when you dettered her, that's when you actually got the costume too. I don't think you was paying attention lol. 6:30

crazy im about to upload a video on this armor. Almost done rendering. But you get it in the big ancient dungeon and from a Uber tribe boss as well. The emote is just a thing that happens when you stand for a while. ^_^ it should be up in like 20mins maybe
