This was really helpful and thorough, I didn't know you could make molds ready for baking without a pottery table. You can also melt down metal cans in the forge for ore as well. I'm hoping that they add more stuff to make with metal in the game. Great content!

There is actually a smaller cave closer to where you spawn in at that you can ore from. You can also get some obsidian there too.

Might have been a previous comment but, over on the waterfall side of the beach if you go left from the waterfall there are two iron veins at the end of the beach. And if you go up the hill to leave and to the left there is a small cave hole with one iron vein in it. I know the games been out for a bit but I just got it because is was on sale, so hopefully this helps someone.

What you can do for lots of charcoal (15 to be exact) you can use the mud charcoal furnace it cost only 3 bricks to make costs about 4 planks to cook then you need another brick for the front the light it and it also gives you 3 campfire ash

New Xbox player here and it turns out the forge unlocks when you pick up an empty can as well, found at camps and the drug lab. Might save someone from an early risky adventure to a cave that they aren't ready for. Not speaking from experience or anything...but, on an unrelated topic...those caves are filled with scorpions that hurt 🙂
