There have been lots of questions about Sony's other camera models: the key information is: you need to record in Cine EI ! This means: if your camera is not capable of Cine EI, it will not work; this is the reason why A7S III, A7CR, A6700 will not work, but only cinema line models such as FX3 / FX30 (after conversion into an .mxf-container with ALL-I 10-Bit). To be more accurate, it does work in all flavors of of "log-shooting", ie not only Cine EI / Cine EI Quick, but as well Log-Shooting with "flexible ISO" (NOT the normal "flexible ISO"). Even if I couldn't test it, this could mean that it will work as well for Vlogging-Line model ZV-E1, which has Log-shooting with flexible ISO, but no Cine-EI. To be even more accurate, in BM DR forum I have seen that you need to shoot in S-Gamut.CINE3, but it wouldn't work with S-Gamut3 even if made in log-shooting / Cine-EI. As usual, Sony is totally pointless in informing us about all these details.....

I can't tell if it's fully true, but if it's recorded in xavc s or hs and you convert it to all intra, then my studio version couldn't recognize it as sony raw. But one time i did the same rendering but the original file was xavc s-i and then it worked. Or could there be an user error by my side in the project settings?

Interesting video. The title definitely made me think you were about to teach us how to film in ProRes RAW internally on the cameras you have listed in the title though.

This is really intriguing... one of the main reasons I left Sony and started shooting on RED was because I hate ProRes Raw and the fact that you need an external recorder to capture it. So having an internal RAW "lite" seems pretty awesome. How is highlight recovery on these Sony RAW files? If you over-exposed by a stop or two on the highlights, could you pull it back down and recover them? I know there are limits even when shooting in R3D, but I love how you can bring the ISO down to whatever you want if you accidentally overexposed. I didn't see any ISO settings though for this Sony RAW footage based on the settings in the Resolve Raw tab, so I'm curious if you are really getting more out of these files than if you were tweaking the sliders in the non-Raw tabs.

So let me get this straight. You have to upload your clip to catalyst browse and export the clip as mxf file? That mxf file will give you the raw settings in resolve ?

Can you do this "to RAW" transcode with something other adjustments like gyro stabilizing the clip in catalyst browse?

This is pretty cool, I cant get it working only because I dont own studio and apparently you can ONLY do it in studio...I just wonder how this compares to using actual "RAW". Is this no different than NOT using the Camera RAW tabs? is it just doing what I would do on normal S-LOG 3 footage 10 bit 422? Or is it legitimately changing the metadata of that clip *behind* davinci resolve, for it to give you a different image? If it is, thats really awesome. My only issue is, why the hell are we still not getting ProRes RAW compatability??? Thats true 12-bit RAW. People say its some issue with apple, but lets be real here. A davinci resolve app which is literally the full davinci resolve for Ipad pro. A camera app has now been released for iphone. IT seems they have a VERY good relationship with Apple. Is it soley due to the fact that ProRes RAW lost its legal battle with RED? That the only way MOST people are getting ProRes RAW is with an Atomos product? I didnt know this until recently, the people who made Atomos - used to work for blackmagic and there was a really bad falling out with them. I believe some legal battles between them aswell. So maybe just out of spite to Atomos, my guess is thats why they wont add ProRes RAW support

didn't work for me on my a7iv...did they get rid of it on DaVinci 18.6.2? Does the new file have to be in the same folder as your original clip, with XML? Can you also let me know your exact specs you shot in with A7iv? Bitrate...100mbps? Thx.

you might need to install the "Beta" version. Thats what i have been seeing people doing it in. His official release might have it, but probably got rid of it in the next official release update and its still in the beta release

You need to convert your clips from .MP4 to .MXF in catalyst browser

Damn so i can do this on the fx6 without a ninja atmos using a software? Do you think its still better to just purchase a ninja anyway?

If it's anything like this converted fx3 raw lite, then yeah you probably want the ninja because of the higher bit rate and selectable iso in post.

The reason I shoot raw to a recorder to bypass the internal sharpening and noise reduction for green screen work. This wouldn't help that in the least unfortunately.
