In this video, Adam goes over 4 easy tips to help unstuck your backswing. The main cause for a stuck backswing comes from the very beginning, the set up. Without a proper set up to promote a bigger turn, the golfer will tend to stand up and flip the club in order to hit it straight. With Adam's methods, the golfer will feel a bigger backswing with ease.

I’ve watched hundreds of not thousands of golf tutorial videos. I’ve created a swing that’s manageable and has gotten me down to a scratch golfer. I have good distance but there are so many areas of my game that are lacking. My length and course management are whet keeps me afloat. I have never seen videos like yours. Only been to one swing coach for one session. Didn’t help. Watched a few of your videos where you explain what and why these feelings and positions are and I’ve been able to understand and put into practice. Before I’ve struggled with shaft lean at impact. I stand up out of the shot and early extend. Watched 2 of your videos and filmed myself in slow motion in my driveway on a mat and I’ve created about 12 degrees of shaft lean at impact. Time for some of those penetrating iron shots. If anything I’ll meed to dial it back. Love your stuff. Wish I was closer to San Diego. Maybe I’ll have to make the trip soon. Keep the videos coming. Great stuff.

The hip bump is the end result of my whole set up in my swing. It has brought me more constancy than anything else I do. Shot a 39/44 last Monday. Scores are coming down. Thanks Adam!

Adam, Thanks! I 've been watching you channel for months and have the best results ever. After 70 years of playing I have the best ball striking and consistent distance control. The only thing I now have is a overworked right glut that has never worked that much to get the better turn.

Excellent teaching videos. Watching all this past year. You covered this before some where but why is your setup not similar to “Stack and Tilt”

Thank you again , Adam and Mike , for the vids. Best vids on KZfaq imo. I saw where another person made a comment about having an aerial view of the hip bump. I get confused about the bump and am wondering if an aerial view would clear things up a bit more.

Wow, amazing before and after right there! Crazy how much 1" of hip bump at setup affects the entire swing.

I feel like this will totally stop my left hip from sliding inwards in backswing which is my issue but when I do the hip bump, feel like I need to engage my upper body more? It’s a new feeling for me but wanted to check that’s the feel. Thanks for the great videos as always Adam

First of all, Adam and Mike, thank you for sharing with us amazing instructional videos (unbelievably, for free!). If anyone just saw this channel for the first time, let me tell you that this is it. Question for you! What would be the impact of over-hip-bump-ing to the swing? You cautioned on the risk of overdoing it, which moves pressure to the outside, instead of the flat, of lead foot. Personally, I realized that when I over-emphasize the bump (1.5+ inch), I feel losing balance of lead foot in the downswing, instead of having a solid post. Wondering if I am doing the bump too much to the point of inhibiting my swing. Thank you again!

I’m no expert, but if you are losing balance on your downswing then you have too much lateral movement towards the target, as opposed to turning your back and more rotational as opposed to a lateral sway towards the target. Check out some of Adam’s videos on turning the hips on the downswing.

The early extending bug has plagued me lately…..I nip it on the range, where I’m comfortable, but when I get to the course, I forget everything and my brain goes to mush…..could you do a future video from maybe the course and go thru some of the psychological aspects of playing a hole with consequences.

Adam, I enjoy your videos. Do you feel a push off the right leg ( brace) to start the downswing?

Adam does not often reply to comments. However, I've asked this exact question to a couple coaches in the past and the answer is always "no", you do not push off your trail foot. To me, great coaches like Adam speak often about shifting pressures with the feet. When I practice on sensing only pressure shifting naturally, my body works so much smoothly. 🤟

Adam, just found your videos and think they're great. Quick question though...when I use the hip bump I feel I'm moving my hip joint behind the ankle joint not leaving it over. Is fell different to real?
@PorzakGolf
@PorzakGolf 2 ай бұрын
Great question! I would definitely get in front of the mirror and check exactly where your hip joint is in relationship to the ankle, but I imagine that’s feel and not real… especially if you still have the weight in the balls of your feet. If the weight is back in your heels, there’s a good chance that hip joint could be well behind your ankles and that’s not ideal

Alright I’ve been fully on board, but a question how, if your upper body is leaned back behind the ball, do you not hit a ton of fats and thins? I feel like this gives me a ‘driver’ sensation of hitting up on it at impact, and as a result am thinning every thing

Don’t let your front hip get closer to the ball on the down swing. And trust your swing. That helped me.

I'm no scratch golfer, but it certainly feels to me like I have more pressure on the lead foot at address. From what I understand from Adam's lessons, the pressure on the lead foot will come naturally in the backswing when your body rotates back.

Adam im a skinnier fella. I know you always say for 7 iron middle of feet to outsides of shoulders. My body is so narrow that when i do that, my legs are more straight than angled. They look like this: I I . In order to get this look: / \ i have to go more inside of feet to outside of shoulders. I hope im explaining this to where you can understand.
