Nice job, enjoyed the video. Laptops can be a tricky bugger. That Fujitsu looked like it was in good shape. Many laptops from that era usually have died by now. People are so hard on things. Especially laptops. I've had many customers bring me laptops that they have beat the hell out of. I personally would only do an upgrade like you did, if the machine was in good condition like this one.

When applying thermal paste you just need to do a pea-size not that much, cuz too much thermal paste isn't good.

Sorry for myenglish.the tdp watts if you go higher from 35 to45 you WILL need another cooler.the laptop may work better with faster cpu but the heat will rise faster inside the laptop and your current cooler is not made for so much heat,and will run max rpm even with idle pc no programs opend

your processor is soldered to the motherboard. You can only expand the RAM to 8-12GB (DDR3L-1600) and install a 240-500GB SSD.

Hello, I have an issue here. Hope you dont mind me asking here. I bought a 2nd hand cpu. the cpu is compatible as mentioned on the brand manufacturing website. when I fit in the cpu, the hdmi slot isn't working, and there is no signal to the monitor. If you can go into the laptop's BIOS and see the name of the processor, the processor is working. In your case, it looks like there is a processor malfunction or the processor was incorrectly selected for the socket or chipset

They use to be but manufacturers want us to upgrade to the latest and greatest. Making the upgrades more painful and costly is a way to do it. As you know some laptops require removing the entire bottom of the laptop to just gain access to hard drive and memory.

Only install a processor your laptop has listed as a factory option. Stick to the same generation and TDP rating. Otherwise you'll hit chipset issues, overheating and power supply problems. Always install the latest bios first as many processors have microcode loaded to them and without that code in the BIOS the CPU won't work.

Too many variables. TDP, chipset compatibility, BIOS support. If the TDP is higher than the laptops cooling system rating then it will overheat and the battery will run down fast. Just look at your laptop model, find the fastest CPU it was ever sold with and use that. If that's not a big enough upgrade then get another laptop.

i have a HCL ME icon laptop and it came with a pentium B970 and after my research i want to upgrade it to i7 2620M or i7 2640M. plz tell if i can upgrade it to or not. they both are based on sandy bridge, both have 35 watt TDP, they both support intel chipset HM65. but regarding the socket (on the intel web site) the pentium has FCPGA988 and the i7 2640M has FCBGA1023,PPGA988. the HCL ME icon 1015 series also came with i3 2330M and i52450M processors.

Install any processor from this list: i3-2370m / i5-2450m / i5-2520m / i5-2540m. So that Windows does not slow down, the RAM should be 6-8GB

you need to clean the radiator from dust and use good thermal paste, for example, Arctic MX2, MX-4. I turned off turbo boost on the i7-2760qm processor in my laptop so that it wouldn’t get too hot. The processor operates at a base frequency of 2.4 GHz, 8GB+8GB RAM, SSD 250 GB
