Some of the screws (3 of them I think), don't actually come out. You just need to unscrew them and they stay in there.

Maybe another video showing the configuration of the new M2 drive. I found after installing the new drive that press F1 and go into the OS Assist. This method downloads and installs the operating system. Best thing would be to do a USB backup of your existing Windows and then recover once the new M2 is up and running.

I did what you did. Installed the SSD, cloned it, as I booted from the ssd, signed on, and went to DISK Management, the HDD went offline. So I turned it back on and formatted it to become a storage drive. Now I have to go to the boot menu every time I turn on because the boot order always boots from the hdd first. Have you found a way to change the boot order?

How do you clone an old M.2 NVME PCIe SSD to a new one (i.e. if there's only one slot and the old one was the boot drive and the only HDD)? Can a M.2 NVME PCIe SSD be connected (i.e. temporally just for cloning purposes) externally (e.g., via a USB-A or USB-C to M.2 NVME NVME adapter)?

You need to get an external NVME enclosure, which comes with the appropiate USB cable to connect it extefrnally where you can clone to it.

Please explain what you installed after the RAM. What was that second component you installed? Was that an SSD - there was no SSD before? I don'tt see a hard drive, so where was the original SSD?

Hello! Is a M.2 Pcie Nvme. Possibly your notebook comes with a SATA disk and you can add an M.2 disk. Regards!

@@Furtel90 Its a type of SSD. Most of these inspirons come only with a 1T sata drive and only 8 GB RAM. It makes sense to add at least a 512 GB SSD and another 8GB RAM.

I got mine for 850$, mine came with a weak 5400 rpm drive I upgraded that to a Samsung 860 Evo SSD drive which was a HUGE performance upgrade. the SSD was 160$ I get the same performance as if I spent 1500$ on a laptop for just 1000$ and the SSD drive is 1 terabyte in size.

Hi there, Few weeks ago I suddenly got a Message "Hard Drive not installed" on my Dell Inspiron 17-7000(7778) (i5 processor) series and couldn't access Windows anymore, this was after a lot of years of ongoing screen freeze alongside other issues that I had on 2 same Inspiron laptops since day one and have reported to Dell but unfortunately Dell Customer Service and Support have Failed to Address the Issues tell warranty Expiration and then the Hard Drive failure Came, now I would like to try and upgrade to SSD M.2. in Setup and Specifications I found that I can Install One-m.2 drive and One-2.5 inch drive. Is Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 (1TB) or pro seies compatible?, There woulden't be any Bios issues? And is there a limit of storage capacity that my 4-5 Year old Inspiron-17-i5 can handle on both Hard Drives (primary and secondary). Thanks.
