How to upgrade Performance 1993 K1500- Jet Chip Install HD 720p

Follow up to some questions on the performance chip for 1993 K1500. I used same company for my 1994. with the open air cleaner, TBI spacer, and new crate engine, this completes the mods and upgrades. Adjust your timing, air/fuel mixture, RPM, and syncs beautifully with new Emission controls (AIR, TPS, EGR, etc).

Keep in mind, per Jet Performance, you won’t see difference with a stage 2 chip until gaining over 300hp, why I recommend Stage 1 for my simple mods with headers, exhaust, fuel pressure spring and TBI spacer.

I bought one a few months ago plugged it in and my transmission wouldn’t shift after 1st gear I got the power shift stage 2 chip. The chip has just been sitting in my garage thought it was garbage but after seeing this video I’ll give them a call and tell them the problem and how we can fix it with the numbers and hopefully they can replace it 👍🏽

They should, seems ones you buy on Amazon don’t match. So giving them that PROM number gets the right one.

@@200235THSS2037 yea I did doesn’t do anything I have full bolt ons on my tbi engine my afr are literally the same with or without the chip no “power gains” I at least wanted the chip to work with my upgrades, but it doesn’t. I’m gonna burn my own chip though on tuners pro using a chip burner or take it to a Honda tuner since they’re obd1 also. Thanks for the help either way🤝🏼

No, a performance tuning, they put vehicle on machine for RPM, fuel/ air etc. more then quick upgrade with this chip

Did you see a big difference in the horsepower? My main complaint is the take off I know you said that it improves the take off but was it a big difference?

Yes very noticeable with my set up, but not all are the same. Depends , if you change intake or exhaust from stock you will notice

Great vid man do you know what the difference between the stage 1 and 2 are also do you recomend me doing this to my truck i have a 94 z71 with a 4l60e but i did an engine swap and went from tbi to carb with vortec heads and a light cam my gear ratio is gt4

If using stock ECM I would since you have changed stock air/fuel, egr and exhaustThe stage 2 not recommended until over 325hp.

This truck had engine in when I bought it. But was a JEGS 350 TBI crate. The one I put in my 94 was GM crate from JEGS and cost engine was $1500. We put that one in ourselves.

@@200235THSS2037 hey bud i have a question i just got a cammed 1993 chevy k1500 it has a cam (unknown size just know bigger than stock) the rest of the setup is stock minus the tbi spacer and the headers but my question is when its cold u can hear the cam but once it warms up u cant hear it lope. Would a tune fix that or do i have a different problem?

@@zackpalmer6474 as far as getting loped sound, I can’t advise, if engine runs good and strong with the new came I wouldn’t worry. The Chip is to get better power and efficiency through ECM for air/fuel. So if you upgraded any of those, headers, TBI spacer, fuel pressure, etc. then a chip will help get more out of those mods. You can call Jet Performance and inquire if chips will help with cam upgrade. I hope this helps

If you haven’t made any engine or exhaust mods, you won’t notice much better a higher shift point a bit better mpg. If you 95 is still obs, should. Check out website and enter model and year and will let you know

If doing any mods to intake or exhaust, stage 1. Stage 2 only if take over 300hp per Jet Performance

I would say yet, any change to air, exhaust or engine would benefit

You have to make sure it's a TBI cam . The other thing you can do is a carb swap. Tbi computers are very sensitive and can not handle alot of performance upgrades. You can swap intake manifolds and run a carb with a tps for the 4l60e to shift

@@senorbarsI did Holley TBI on my 94,doesn’t run as good as stock. Keep original TBI and just do a spacer and higher fuel pressure spring and a rebuild kit. So much better on my 93

I have a 454 91 c3500 dually. I’ve had it 7 years. I’ve rebuilt the engine twice and replaced everything I can think of. I can’t find the original temperature gauge sending wire to gauge. It’s always had a mechanical gauge. Im only 2000 miles into the 3rd engine. Every single one has overheated in the summer. Everything is new, everything and it’s got a 4 core radiator. It’s still overheating at idle. I’ve tried every fan clutch to electric fans. I’ve tried every coolant known to man. I’ve tried no exhaust to factory exhaust. The gauge I’ve tried 10 different brands and styles. Everytime I take it to a mechanic they say it’s fine. Then why do i go 9 miles on surface streets and it’s already showing 240??? It’s not fine. I’m not sure what to try next. Yes the water pump is correct and new. Everything is new. If it’s not I’ve got new stuff in the shed. Im about done with this chevy crap

You have two units, one at top by thermostat and another on driver side under spark plug. I would check to be sure thermostat is correct temp and replace temp sending unit. One on side of motor is for gauge, the top one is to ECM

@@200235THSS2037 yes… I know this but im asking is where is the wire? The wire has been cut or tucked away. The wire location comes out of a wire harness somewhere. Go look at at your wire… that’s what im saying is I need to find the original one

@@Arizona_rider mine was hard to find too. It’s a single green wire. It comes out of the harness with the oxygen sensor on the drivers side. Let me know if you find it

Idles right at 1000. Doing new video, did spacer on injector and got ridiculous results. Check back for update

Absolutely, love this truck. Todays new truck are ridiculous expensive. Plus these are easy to work on, inexpensive parts and You can do motor swap and rebuild tranny for $5k. It’s practically a New truck, I got lucky and that was done already when I bought for $7k. I just completed steering and brake updates and some cosmetic and top end engine work.

So many variables on these older trucks, all your emission sensors, tires and size etc. it does give me 2 more mpg, but I have lifted truck and 33” tires. This chip is recommended if you upgrade your exhaust and/or intake to make air/fuel mixture, temp sensors and shift points adjusted. With my set up I easily hit 60mph under 11 seconds. I have never put one in a stick 1500 with 350 motor.

Yes, did headers and then ran duel pipes, got rid of Y pipe. Check out my other video on all the upgrades

Doing updated video soon, put in injection spacer, dropped 5-60mph to under 9 seconds. And improved fuel mileage to 12.3 mpg

I haven't done any mods. Would this do anything for my '94 K1500 with a 5.7L 350? I'm getting right at 10 mpg right now, if this will boost that I feel like it will eventually pay itself off.
