@@geteverything8502 yes you can add. but generally it is said to have the same config .like 8+8 or 4+4 . Total RAM supported by Lenovo G50-70 is 16 GB.

Right now am in US and ordered A-1 Tech 8GB RAM 1.35v costing me USD 29. Video was very helpful for me to execute this work. Pls share how to change from HDD to SSD. Procured 480GM SANDISK. Also your video is very shaky. Can be avoided. Waiting for the above. And what interface cables should I have.

SSD definitely consume less power than an HDD due to start-up efficiency

Yes you can, but it is generally recommended you go for the same configuration. Example if you have 4GB in slot 1 , then in slot 2 also have 4GB.

Hi, Keep on adding RAM beyond a point doesn't make your laptop faster. For G50, more than 8GB ram (4+4) isn't probably going to bring improvement. System speed is depended upon several factors and RAM is only one. When other factors stay the same and only RAM keeps increasing, improvement in speed stops after a point. You may find lots of videos explaining this in youtube.

I have done it about two weeks ago. Still a HDD drive It really does not improve the performance The BIOS won't identify the extra 8 GB In task manager/ performance/memory it identifies the extra 8 GB. But there is still no real huge difference.
