I used to game on a 7010 back in 2020 with an rx 570, 16gb ddr3 and an evga 550w psu. These are great machines!

Yeah! I first build was a Optiplex 7020… didn’t do things right and bought a GT 730 and leaned that it sucked…

I picked up a 7010 SFF (i5, Win10 Pro) on eBay a couple of months ago and did similar upgrades (16GB/512GB) but with a GT 1030. It runs great, especially considering it's a 10-year-old computer, and even runs my older Steam games.

another tip for builders: make sure to enable hyper-threading in the bios, sometimes it is disabled and you can check in task manager at Logical Processors under CPU, for the i7 3770 it should say 8 but if it says 4 (5:05) then it has been disabled. This sometimes happens when clearing CMOS or because Dell set it so, but you can easily just hit enable in the bios to well, enable it.

Yeah, with the dell BIOS you cannot enable hyperthreading unless you downgrade the bios, downgrade it a lot. Which comes with too many disadvantages compared to advantages

NVMEs will also work on these machines, with a small bios modification.

Actually, that’s the newer Optiplex. This one specifically doesn’t have ports for it :/

I scored a refurbed 9020 with a 4th gen i7 and 16gb RAM for $250. Swapped out the PSU for a Corsair CX600 and ran a PCIe riser to have a GTX 1660 run outside of the case, and damn is this one fine budget build. Even recent AAA titles are running great on it.

I have a dell optiplex 7010 n I also have bigger case than the 7010 so I was wondering if I could put the parts in the bigger case n use a bigger GPU with it is it?

I did think about installing windows. But the ssd I had on hand was a backup of my personal rig, so I couldn’t wipe it! I’m gonna put up some more vids over Christmas break and show how to do a fresh windows install!

i just bought a dell optiplex 9020, and installed rx 580 in it, it worked perfectly fine, a reseated the cmos to get default bios settings now the rx 580 is not working... can you help? is there any bios setting that doesn't allow the rx 580 to boot? the igpu works just fine

@@kennyskomputers1009 it worked perfectly fine before that cmos restart, i don't know the fix, i've tried everything and nothing works so far, so yeah i guess the rx 580 did indeed die

Thinking of doing something similiar for my brother, Did you install any other brackets/cables for it to be able to power that 1650? And did you install a low profile bracket on your 1650?

Nope! The system doesn’t need low profile! The 1650 can just be plopped in!

@@kennyskomputers1009 update: i bought an 7020, reinstalled windows for my brother, found the ethernet port is broke and i ordered a pcie ethernet card for it, Hopefully will be able to resolve the issue and then see if i can buy a graphics card for him !

Hello what PSU do You have on this Dell? i just bought OptiPlex 5055 with ryzen 1500 , 240 W PSU and I wonder that will be work with my old 1050 Ti from asus { without power conector )

Well, if it doesn’t use external power, it should work just fine! I’ve never had any problems with 75>watt cards!

@@kennyskomputers1009 Ok GPU works fine but i have another question ;p i put my RAM in slots A1 and B1 but its works in single channel the same when i put in A2 B2 ( Ram the same frequency and model ) what to do to work in dual channel i dont find ram settings in bios menu ;/

It should do it automatically. Nothing to turn on. It won’t tell you that it does it, it just will.

HI i own a opltiplex 3020 mini tower and i cant use a ssd without the hard drive so i need to use the hard drive to boot up my pc do you know how i could use the ssd without the hard drive

You can do a fresh windows install on the ssd.

VERY, VERY old. Don't remember the specific model but it has 256mg DDR3 video memory.
