How To Upholster A Wooden Arm Chair - For The Upholstery Beginner
kimsupholstery....
I get many emails each week asking for advice on upholstering that first piece of furniture. If you start small and gradually build up to more difficult pieces you will probably have less frustration and save money. Making the wrong cuts in your fabric, putting fabric on in the wrong order or choosing the wrong materials is costly. While upholstering a chair of this type you will learn to:
• Use upholstery tools.
• Tear down.
• Install a base for springs.
• Tie Springs.
• Pad up your project.
• Measure and cut fabric.
• Center your fabric.
• Attach your fabric.
• Add cording.
• Close the outside back.
• Put on a dust cover.

I watched a few other videos and then this one. What a difference!! Yours is the work of a true professional. Thank you for sharing your craft. I do not think I would be able to do as good a job as you, and watching this video makes me want to go to a professional to have the work done, as it seems I could probably botch the antique chair and ruin it. What a great way to advertise! Thanks again!!

Loved watching this as i'd like to try this for some dining chairs. The silver strip of grab - where do you buy that - just an upholstery shop? It makes the finished product with the piping look so much more professional.

Nice one, great video, I've been going round the recycling centres for years getting things to do up for my house, now it's full to the brim I'm a little bit gutted there's no need for me to do it any more, then I realised I could get things, do them up and sell them, it's a hobby really, the trouble is I usually like the things I've done up and want to keep them!! I think I need a bigger house!! Thanks for the lesson!!

Absolutely great video, thanks! I watched some previous videos for ideas on making cushions. My daughters outside furniture cushions disintegrated and this was a first time adventure for me. I found your videos very helpful and the cushions came out great! Not perfect but great and it made my daughter very happy, which was the whole reason for attempting the job. It took me weeks, but I kept getting stumped and had to review videos for support, but it was well worth the time and effort! Thanks again!

you're amazing :) having a custom toddler sofa chair done for my son on christmas but know that it may have staples showing in the backside where the fabric is held down. I think that would be a good video. A lot of learners/hobbyists probably jump in to the cuts to early and it's a good lesson to teach how to make prep cuts, so you can lay the fabric out for prep cuts on a confusing piece. Good plan batman. Sorry, I'm hijacking. Zipping my lip.

BTW, i have looked quite a bit on youtube the last 3 years and your videos seem to be among the best on here, It could do with some English equivalent names for some things. Some things have Weird enough names to begin with so might be hard for this side of the pond learners to find what they need. Such as a welt seam is piping over here. All the best.
