Nathalie Kaufmann, Consultant for Natural Birth Preparation, and Mathias Ritter, Science Expert, teach you how to use a birthing ball to induce labor. These birthing ball exercises are intended to engage your baby deeper in your pelvis so that more pressure is being put on your cervix. The additional pressure, as well as the stimulation from the movements, can help you kick-start contractions, if your body is ready for it. However, these 6 simple exercises on and with a birthing ball cannot only help you induce labor. They can also help you prepare your body for labor. Therefore, they are also a great way to speed up the time until your body is ready for labor. Finally, these exercises are also great pregnancy stretching exercises for the last couple of weeks of your pregnancy. Therefore, they can also help you relieve some of the tensions and the pain that you feel in your back!
------------------------------------------------
FREE MINI BIRTHING COURSE:
We invite you to watch our free MINI BIRTHING COURSE, in which we teach you how (not) to breathe during labor. In fact, we show you with the help of a measurement device, how “good” and “bad” breathing techniques affect your body and labor.

BIRTH BALL SIZE:
We recommend the following birth ball:
Amazon US: amzn.to/3rva5Gu
Amazon UK: amzn.to/39ZjMXP
You can find a size guide in the product description of the ball that we recommend above!
From our experience though, the following sizes are okay given your body size:
Select Size S (38 - 45cm) if you are smaller than 4’8”
Select Size M (48 - 55cm) if you are between 4’8” and 5’4”
Select Size L (58 - 65cm) if you are between 5’4” and 5’8”
Select Size XL (68 - 75cm) if you are between 5’8’” and 6’3”
Select Size XXL (78 - 85cm) if you are taller than 6’3”
Please note: unfortunately, there is an error in one of our slides in the video. When we tell you which size is correct, if you are taller than 5'8", we say that you should go for the following size:
22.8"-25.6" (68-75cm)
The size (in cm) in brackets is correct, however, that size is 26.77" - 29.5" and not 22.8"-25.6" as we say in the video! We are very sorry for that mistake!!!

I love your voices, really engaging but relaxing at the same time. Your video demonstrations are very useful. And so great how much detail you go into. I also like that you aren’t getting women’s hopes up that they will be able to induce labor if their body isn’t ready yet. I’ve seen too many that do that which isn’t great.

"If your body is ready for it." That was my favorite quote from the entire thing. I feel like a lot of doctors want to rush things before the Mom's body is ready and we end up with too many c sections following an induction. I'm only 3 days past my due date and the doctor would have wanted to induce at this point.

Hello Stacey 😊, we know exactly what you mean! We hear such stories from women every day. And the biggest problem with that is that women are often being told: "if you don't go into labor by day X, we are going to induce you". As a result, most of them feel an immense pressure to go into labor spontaneously. And this is when it is even less likely to work - at least on our experience... We wish you that you can go into labor spontaneously and that you can soon hold that sweet little thing in your arms! 🥰 All the best for you and your baby! ❤️

Exactly me myself had no idea in my first pregnancy gone through emergency c section just because my ob pressurized me for induction on my due date. I fooled that time. I didn't have knowledge that time but idk why doctors do this with their patients. Induction is an intervention.

@@misskat1549 Thanks a lot for sharing your story!! Such stories really make us very sad! 🙁 Putting pressure on women does the exact opposite of what SHOULD normally happen: a spontaneous labor...

Baby #8 for me, and JUST found your channel! I am so glad I did, because I am enjoying the exercises. Just started and a little more than half way through the video. The very first one relieved my pelvic pressure and I was able to self release my SI joint which has been painful for 2 weeks now in spite of chiropractor appointments!

Hi there 😊, our sincere apologies for the late reply! We have had some severe technical issues over the past 4 days which is why we were unable to answer any comments... It's GREAT to hear that these exercises help you with your pain! We know so many women who felt better with these exercises. Plus: they can even help prepare your cervix for labor. So, the perfect exercises! 😊 By the way: Baby number 8!! KUDOS to you!!!! 😘 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

Hi there 😊, please keep in mind that our birth ball exercises will only help you induce labor if your body is ready for it. This normally means that we would expect to see early signs of labor, like your baby dropping, mucus plug discharge, bloody show, an increase of Braxton hicks contractions, diarrhea etc. But please don't worry if you cannot yet see any early signs of labor because the good news is: as long as you cannot see any early signs of labor, our birth ball exercises can also help you prepare your body for labor because they have a great effect on the cervix. In fact, clinical studies have found that women who have been doing birth ball exercises in their late pregnancy, had a much better Bishop score, which is basically a measure for how ready your cervix is for labor... Finally, please note that there are also other things that you can do to prepare your body for labor. Now in week 37 is the best time to start with them. We explain such tools in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btiVm8Wm1d3Mqo0.html. Maybe, you find it helpful! All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

Hi there Kayleigh 😊, that's really very kind of you to say!! 😘😘 Thanks so much! We are very happy to hear that you like our content! 😊 These exercises can certainly help support that whole process of preparing the body for labor and inducing labor. Just keep in mind that on average, a pregnancy lasts between 38 and 42 weeks which means that most women are not "ready" to go into labor before they have reached their due date (+/- 1 week). Because of that, we also like to combine these exercises with other tools to prepare the body for labor, such as acupressure, dates and reflexology. These tools can help soften the cervix so that it is more likely that you go into labor spontaneously and to start dilating sooner. We explain these tools and more in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btiVm8Wm1d3Mqo0.html We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️

Hi there Dalene 😊, thanks so much for sharing your story 😊!! We can absolutely understand that you cannot wait to meet that sweet little thing of yours (and we are sure it's the same the other way round 🥰). Please keep in mind that these birth ball exercises will most likely help you induce labor, if your body is ready for it. But the good thing is: if your body is not ready, these exercises can also help prepare your body for labor. But just that you know: there are also other ways to prepare your body for labor and induce labor. We explain them in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btiVm8Wm1d3Mqo0.html Maybe you find it helpful too? All the best for you and your baby! ❤️

Oh Thank you so much to both of you guys…(finally a straightforward and simple video to follow) began these exercise since 30 weeks pregnant & honestly at first I was skeptical cause I never tried birthing ball exercise before for my 3 other pregnancies. Now with the baby No.4 I wanted things to speed up cz baby number 3 had to do a membrane sweeping twice for things to speed up since I had past due date going on 41 week….& baby was born only after 3hours labour and caused tearing…( it was a traumatic experience for my husband & I) now just delivered baby No. 4 last Saturday at 38 weeks 4 days, all along I was doing these routines everyday & they really helped me.once again a warm thank you to you guys❤

@josaru66 Hi there! Please understand that we are in no position to tell you, if you can try Castor oil right now or not. This is really something that only your doctor can tell you - based on your particular pregnancy case... We can only tell you IN GENERAL, that we know many women who tried Castor oil at the end of their pregnancy. For some women, it worked. For others, it did not... In general, Castor oil tends to work better at later stages of a pregnancy (particularly from 40 weeks). Most importantly though, the cervix needs to be soft. And IDEALLY, you also have some first contractions (although it can also work without them).... We are very sorry that we cannot be a better help here... 😬 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤

Hi there! ❤️ Absolutely! The great advantage of these exercises is that they can help you prepare your the body for labor. In fact, in clinical studies, it was shown that women who had used a birthing ball during the final weeks before labor had a much better Bishop score (which is a measure for how ready the cervix is for labor) compared to women who had not used a birthing ball... And then once the body is ready for it, these exercises have helped lots of women induce labor... All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️

@CareAboutLittleOnes
@CareAboutLittleOnes Жыл бұрын
Hi there 😊, first of all, thanks a lot for your feedback!! 😘 We are very happy to hear that you find them helpful!! 😊 Regarding your question: it is never to late to start exercising. In fact, week 37 is perfect if you want to prepare your cervix for labor. And we clearly think that birth ball exercises are a great way to begin with. Stretches or yoga are great too (for the pushing phase) and of course, if you wanted to, you could also do some exercises for strength (start slowly though!!). That said, please only do deep squats, if your baby is in a good position (i.e. head down and facing your back). That's because they can make your baby engage in your pelvis and you wanna do that only if baby is in a good position... As always though, please also ask your doctor if it is okay to do specific exercises. For example, if you have severe spine-related problems, birth ball exercises may not be the best idea.... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

Hi there Zohara 😊, thanks SO MUCH for your feedback!! 🥰 It makes us really happy to hear that you like our video! 😊 In general, these exercises can be done throughout a pregnancy. Unfortunately, we have confused many women because of the fact that we mentioned certain pregnancy weeks from which on women are supposed to do these exercises. However, the truth is, that you can do these exercises from day 1 of your pregnancy, UNLESS your doctor tells you that you should not do them of course. So, given that your doctor gave you their approval, then you can certainly start in week 30, even though you have to do them in a more gentle way, as suggested by your doctor. By the way, don't worry about your baby' position just yet! There are lots of babies who only turn later on. 😊 One thing which could help though is moxibustion which we explain in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5Obm5mf3a3Pc58.html. Of course, you will probably not be able to do the exercises. However, we had many cases when we successfully turned breech babies with 30min moxibustion only, while being in a side-lying position (just like the one we show in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gpZ2lcJ5yajYn5s.html). If this does not help, then you could also try moxibustion in combination with acupuncture (but of course, you would need a professional therapist for that)... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

Hi there! 😊 IN GENERAL, women with a previous C-section are normally absolutely able to do these exercises. However, it very much depends on your case! Sometimes, there may be circumstances why a pregnant woman cannot do these exercises and they are not necessarily related to the previous C-section. Therefore, we kindly ask you to consult your doctor and ask if you can do them. It's just a precautionary measure! Thank you! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby! ❤️

Hie, thanks a lot for uploading such informative videos. I'm 39 weeks + 4 days and 1 cm dilated. I lost my mucus plug a day back as well. However, my AFI is 4 and my doctor has given me 2 days before she medically induces me. I have tried all your labour induction methods (excluding sex because I'm 1 cm dilated) but none of them seem to work. I had 3 false contractions, that's it. Could you please help me out? I just have a day left to naturally induce.

Hi there 😊, we are not gonna lie to you: it is really very difficult to induce labor if you are under time pressure. Stress and labor induction are two things which "don't like each other". That said - in our experience - the one thing that tends to work even in such situations is Castor oil. However, it is important to note that Castor oil won't work for every woman. Moreover, it does require the approval of your doctor. So, if your doctor approves the intake of Castor oil, it is something that COULD help you induce labor fast, particularly, if you combine it with other tools, such as nipple stimulation. But again, inducing labor naturally under time pressure is a very very difficult task... Still, we hope this information helps you... 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️

Hi there 😊, thanks so much for your feedback!! It's GREAT to hear that you find our videos helpful!! 😊 Yes, you can totally do these exercises at 36 weeks, if you are allowed to exercise... However, we would do the deep squats only if your baby is in the right position (i.e. head down and facing your back)... We know that we mentioned specific pregnancy weeks for each exercise in this video - unfortunately, it has confused more than being helpful. The reason why we did that is because this video was intended to be like a "roadmap" to labor... But that does not mean that you cannot do these exercises before the pregnancy weeks that we mentioned in this video.... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

So I'd absolutely love any suggestions! I have been super super active my entire pregnancy. I am currently 38+2. Cervix is super soft and short, 2cm dialated. My last check, the nurse told me she could literally feel my sac. Baby boy is head down on my cervix. He will rotate his body or feet sometimes, but he mainly stays facing my right hip, back against my left side. I can't seem to get my water to break and I'm dialating slower than I could ask for. My AFI is 7-8. Around his head they measured a 5 roughly. Any suggestions help. I've tried the miles circuit, squats, walking, red raspberry leaf tea and meditation.

Hi there Samantha 😊, thanks a lot for sharing your case with us! We completely understand your frustration! At 38 weeks, you are just tired and exhausted and all you want to do is hold that sweet thing in your arms. Please note though that at 38+2 weeks with everything that you describe, you are already miles ahead of other women in the same stage. The reality is that, on average, a pregnancy lasts between 38 and 42 weeks. Everything within that range is considered "normal". Because of that, most women have not even started to dilate at that stage. Besides, the biggest part of your dilation will only happen once you are in labor and have contractions. If you do squats and walk and meditate, you are already doing a GREAT job to support your body. Your efforts are probably the reason why you are already way ahead of other women in week 38. So, trust your body! It knows exactly what it is doing. Once your baby and your body are ready, you will go into labor. That said, there are several things that have helped other women to induce labor. However, please keep in mind that natural labor induction will not work if your body is not ready for labor: 1. Nipple stimulation (just keep in mind that it may not be done with a few minutes per day) 2. Reflexology (same as nipple stimulation: it may not be done with a few minutes per day only) 3. Acupuncture (acupuncture itself cannot induce labor; however, it can help in cases when a woman cannot go into labor because of high stress levels. So if you are really stressed, acupuncture could help) 4. Exercises on a birthing ball Of course, there is also Castor oil. However, personally, we always treat Castor oil as last resort simply because of the side effects. Also, you can never be sure if it is going to work... Still, it CAN be super effective for labor induction. Just discuss with your doctor first, if Castor oil is the right tool in your particular case... We talk more about these tools and also how to apply them in these 2 videos: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/btiVm8Wm1d3Mqo0.html (reflexology, nipple stimulation, Castor oil) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i82ilbKUmcnJko0.html (birth ball exercises) Finally, please keep in mind that with every day your baby stays in there, you give your baby more time to mature (particularly baby's lungs and suction reflex). So, it's not a bad thing! So, please do not put too much pressure on yourself! You are doing a great job already! The rest is up to your body (and baby)... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️

@@enanefy Oh, so, what we mean here is that some women just stimulate their nipples for 5 to 10 minutes per day (or apply reflexology for 5 to 10 minutes per day). And unfortunately, in the majority of all cases, this will not be enough to have the desired effect. We know women who stimulated their nipples or applied reflexology for 1-2 hours per day in order to get contractions started. It all depends on the body... That's what we meant here.... 😊
