I read that 0 on the ruffler footwas so that you can do some straight stitching without removing the foot (if you intend to do more ruffling).

@universityofsewing thank you for the great demonstration. For the 16 foot, is it trial and error to figure out what stitch length will gather the correct spacing to fit on the "flat" fabric? For example, it the fabric to be ruffled is 80 inches long and will be sewn onto a fabric piece that is 30 inches. On the 86 foot, again, is it trial and error to figure out the setting to finish with a certain size pleat? For example, if the pattern calls for 2 inch pleats. Or will the 86 not make pleats?

What is the difference between the #86 Ruffler with the Yellow Dot (like you are using) and the Orange Dot?

Hello, just watching this and thanks for the video. Question is seam strength if using a stitch length of 5 for the gathering. Do you feel the need to do another seam on a smaller stitch normal sewing foot?
