Great video, I'm studying this ancient but effective method of fishing. Australians used it over 8,000 years ago

How do you make the flare?
@HardeoRoopan4 ай бұрын
Their are 2 methods. 1 after mounting the net cut out a circle in the middle and stich a piece of net the length you want. this method is simple but needs regular repairs. 2 After mounting the net cut out the center and build a bag out of some additional netting. This method is a lot more complicated but needs less repairs and can handle larger catch.

I see couple holes at the bottom of the net...better to patch it before you go out..

Good memories of my childhood days on vacation in Fullerton, Cedros when my uncle took me to the beach to watch then do this. It was a great day for me. About 53 years ago, when life was simple and not much stress.

What is the difference between gilnet and drag net
@HardeoRoopan2 жыл бұрын
Gillnet Allows the Fish Head to enter the Net the larger Fish get stuck by the Gills, while the smaller fish pass through the net. Gill Nets are usually anchored in place and left for a few hours. Gill net brings in the catch Dead. Drag nets are different because it channels the fish down to a central point the Catch can then be sorted and the un-wanted catch can be released as the fish are caught Alive.
