OMGod you are a lifesaver! I have a Singer Tradition Essential model 2277 machine. I bought a "walking foot" and a "knit foot" both were from Amazon from sellers that didn't really specify exactly what models or how to attach the feet. I loved how clear and informative your video was! I couldn't find anything in my manual or from Singer about the "knit foot" and that stupid bar thing just seemed to be in the way! Now thanks to you I understand how it is to be put on and how it should work! Loved your video!

Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I have been knitting sweaters on my Bond Knitting machine and was hand-sewing the side and sleeve seams. Now, I am using this foot - so much faster and the same end result. Thank you again!!

+Vagdevi Akella A straight stitch will not stretch with the movement of the fabric. Any stretch stitch or your zig zag stitch will work best with a jersey or knit fabric.

Please could you tell me if this is the foot to use with a hand knitted (double knit) woollen garment? I would appreciate your advice.
@BabsRudlin
@BabsRudlin 8 жыл бұрын
+Gail Farrow Hi Gail. When I work with double knit for my Pixie coats I always use a serger so it seals in the edges as I sew. This foot will feed through the thicker layers of a double knit but It's my personal choice. If you have the option to user a serger or overlocker I would go with that. If not this is a good alternative if you use a stretch overlocking or zig zag stitch. Make sure you manually check the width of the stitch BEFORE sewing and always use a test offcut first.

Thank you Babs, I will have a look into your suggestions. I have several "feet" that I am unsure of (new to sewing and wool crafts), after watching your feature for the knit foot, that's one I can cross off my list. I will be having a look into an over locker and server, and I have some do items I can practice on. Thank you for your help x

Because you didn't have the pattern matched on the knit, I wasn't able to determine if the foot actual held the 2 knit pieces together evenly, as the foot is supposed to do. Would you please record a new one matching the pattern on the knit, please?
@BabsRudlin
@BabsRudlin 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Margaret, that is an excellent suggestion. This video was simply how to use the foot rather than a review of its effectiveness. I will record a comparison video for this knit foot and also the full walking foot as a review of true relative effectiveness. Many thanks, Babs

I just used the knit foot for the first time, and the blue rubber piece fell off and got caught up in the thread. I was able to get the thread out of it and reattach it but I'm not sure I did it right. I will try it out tomorrow, but I wonder if this is a common occurrence!

PS to my previous comment: the blue piece has fallen off again. It gets caught up and sewn onto the fabric. Would gluing it on be a good idea?

My first attempt to glue it didn't work (fell off again). This time I tried Loctite ultra gel super glue. I have only hemmed one seem around the bottom of a t-shirt. The blue piece stayed on and the material fed fine. Hopefully it will continue to stay put!

maybe it's easier to attach , is'nt it ? And can I ask you one question ? Is this foot also preventing knit fabric to do that... wavy kind of look ? Like this upper picture : farm8.static.flickr.com/7005/6842572807_a8186a202d_b.jpg ?

Slavka Bar. It is a simple clip on bar attachment, a walking foot usually is screwed into place. Yes it maintains even tension to avoid the ripple from pulled knit fabrics.
