The beauty of the M6 and having the lens cap on is the flashing (to the right) red-light arrow. As long as the battery is good you’ll get the warning.

Note that the frame lines are auto selected by the camera when a lens is mounted. You can wiggle the lever to change the frame lines but as soon as you let go, it springs back to the initial position. There’s no way to permanently choose different frame lines.

Please don't load a rapid film loading M like that. All you have to do is drop the film in, put the lead in the tulip, and put the baseplate on. That's it. The baseplate does all of the pushing down and aligning of the film for you. There's really no need to touch the film or try to jam the film in with your fingers, especially near the back door or gate. That's how M's get broken. I really wish people would stop showing film loading like this because it just creates problems. Load the film, then fire the camera twice. You should notice the rewind crank spin a little bit, and 99 percent of the time, it will. If for some reason it doesn't, just take the baseplate off and do it again. Sorry if this sounds snobby at all, just trying to pass on information since this is how its written in all Leica manuals and I have never had a problem loading my film.

@@calvinchann1996 it's designed to be worry and futz-free, hence the naming of the system as the "rapid loader". Drop the film in and go basically. I love it and it has never failed me

Thanks for the video. Since I only use my M6 for shooting black & white, there are long periods of time when my M6 is unused. I have saved this video to use as a reference to use when needed as a refresher.

I ❤️ my M6 - despite its faults. Always carry spare batteries if you rely on the meter. It is very easy to flatten them by half pressing the shutter in your bag. The meter is only locked off when the shutter is set to B. LEDs are the same brightness all the time which means they glare at you under some conditions. The range finder window is prone to sticky fingers. Etc etc. But tripping the shutter sparks joy every time!

The only think I dislike about it that there is so option to lock the shutter. So many frames wasted :(

@@gurugamer8632 If I was stood in a Leica store and they offered me a brand new MP as a straight swap sure I would go for it :) It would be like "new lamps for old" in Aladdin. But that situation only occurs in fairy tales and rarely ends well! Would I pay money to upgrade? No. For my purposes they appear near enough identical - apart from my M6 being 30 years old. (I bought mine when the prices were only ridiculous not crazy ridiculous).

I recently bought a new M6 directly from Leica but if a Shot a picture and advance for the next Frame the Rewind know on the left doesnt Spin, is that something to worry about ?

It can take two or three exposures for it to move. You check as you shoot, if it doesnt spin then its not loaded correctly.

With the M6, If you try to take a meter reading with the lens cap on, the left LED will blink, telling you your lens cap is still on the lens. All you need to do is make sure your battery is good, and pay attention to the LEDs in the viewfinder. If you ignore those LEDs, the camera will not stop you from making this mistake.

Hi Nico, thank you very much for this simple video, it has made it easier for me to operate the camera than the paper manual. I have seen that some people recommend using 2L76 batteries instead of LR44 to avoid battery leakage, what do you think about this?

Its not cheap, Sony A9 and Nikon Z9 are close in price but sold in bigger volumes. At the end its a high price item that does what a lot of film camera can do for a fraction of the price. But people love the M6.

No conozco tal sitio, porque los sitios que tienen camaras rotas o con necesidad de reparar las guardan para reparar y vender arregladas, yo no recomiendo comprar sin tener ciertas garantias. Algunas no tienen reparacion... y eso si que sale caro

Nah, still not my style of camera. But I do want to use one more as soon as I have more time. Issue is they sell pretty fast at the store so I cant call dibs for a few weeks.

When you rewind your film in the M6, do you find that it gets harder to wind as you get more and more film back into the canister? Almost spring loaded such that if you let go of the rewind handle it will spin back in the opposite direction? Thanks.

Sometimes it does do a bit of a spring with film, but i dont usually notice it too much.
