In this tutorial I’ll show you all the information provided on a flight log from a LIDO operational flight plan and how to accurately complete time and fuel checks en-route
The sector is based off a real-world operational flight plan from Manchester (EGCC) to Alicante (LEAL)
For a more detailed analysis of the operational flight plan check out this excellent interactive flight plan available on the SimBrief website.

Small Note - 4:35 - The difference between IMT and ITT is magnetic variation, not the drift from heading and track as stated on this tutorial. Thanks to Cloud Surfing 101 for pointing this out! Magnetic Variation is something I haven't considered for about 8 years! FD2S

flightdeck2sim hi, I've just flown a route from Kord to kjfk with a sim brief flight plan. Everything went fine until I got to kjfk. The last waypoint does a very sharp left turn not a gradual one. So the inevitable happened, it rolled over and crashed. So is there a way of changing the plan, because sim brief will just calculate the same plan every time. I know it's the STAR but what can I do to correct it. Thanks in advance, Bob

@@bobmunday2762 The flight path isn't always correctly presented on the flight plan, especially in SIDs and STARs. What matters is that it is set correctly in the aircraft. For this reason, the problem doesn't have to do with Simbrief

I agree with Apollo... great to hear you are flying again. I am coming from the other direction. With all of the hype about the new MSFS when it came out I thought I would take a look at simulation FSX / XP11 etc. Back in the mid 90s I did a real world CPL/ATPL groundschool with Atlantic Flight Training in Coventry UK, I was in my late 30s. Then with 10 exams out of the 15 or so in the bag, the very sad 9/11 incident occurred. I realised how precarious my situation would be, given my age and the remaining training cost with IR etc (I had almost completed a twin rating) and still working to keep a family and mortgage, I simply stopped. My flying went by the wayside and now at 60, you guessed it, I miss it all very much. Enter my new discovery of flight sims , excitingly I started back on the "steam gauges" that I knew as well as the Carenado Seneca of the virtual world. Assembling the piles of coursework binders, I was off again, this time in the virtual world... much cheaper! The point is, with your excellent flight videos, real world knowledge and tutorials, I can catch up and (albeit reluctantly) leave the steam gauges and IRS / INS behind as I discover glass cockpits and GPS procedures. Although I am not real world flying, It has hugely filled something of the empty void, I am hooked! Thank you FD2S!

One question - I have found that Simbrief doesn't always match well with what the FMS programs - with respect to altitudes? I can program in a flight and notice the waypoints are correct - contraints / restrictions seem to generally fit - but altitudes can differ alot. Do you change the FMS altitudes to match Simbrief ones or leave FMS as is...?

Hi there! I've just had a good look at my OFP as generated by Simbrief for my short flight this morning from Bologna to Palermo. There were 37 pages of NOTAMs, which I think (with all the time in the world) is indigestable - it's just too much information to take in! How can you possibly find time to look at this, or sort out what's important from what is minor, with the short turnarounds that you have in the real world?
@flightdeck2sim
@flightdeck2sim 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Keith! There is indeed a lot of information, our LIDO OFP's highlight pertinent information, eg U/S - CLOSED - INOP etc I check all destination and primary ALTN NOTAM's prior to dispatch of the first flight so NOTAM's do not need to looked at during the turnaround. I like to check at home when eating breakfast/Lunch etc so when I arrive for the briefing I already know in my head weather/how much fuel I would like to take/pertinent NOTAM's etc. FD2S

@flightdeck2sim
@flightdeck2sim 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Balu0 It's an area I haven't really explored, at the moment I've just plugged in my joystick and rudder pedals and for normal operations it works fine for me with everything as default (I think it's 50%) I need to play around a bit to further refine the sensitivity, especially when handling in gusty crosswind condition during take off/landing. FD2S
@Balu0
@Balu0 5 жыл бұрын
Thx for the answer, as you will notice stability augmentation will have a big impact on handling, it actually moves the control surfaces (like a fly-bye-wire would) to artificially stabilize the plane, and this is added to the planes build in stability and controls, so in theory (in case of a properly made addon) 0% would be the most realistic, but I found the 737 becomes too "nimble" at that setting, I settled for 25% for now. If you play around with it and find a setting that feels the most realistic to you please make it public :D You mentioned the rudder response being low slow speed on crosswind landing in your stream, 0% rudder stability might help with that IMHO.

Hiya fd2s! Have time for a question? My fuel usage varies quite a bit from the plan, it varies between waypoints as well as total usage and I have yet to understand why. What are some of the more common reasons for this sort of problem? Thanks for the time. ~ Steven

@flightdeck2sim 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Steven. I’ve found LIDO with simbrief to be extremely accurate, so long as you have an aircraft with accurately programmed fuel burn you shouldn’t run into problems. Make sure you fly the same speed as indicated on the OFP during the cruise. At the moment in the ZIBO MOD we don’t have the data for the FMC cruise speeds, it just defaults to a set speed. DES speeds are all correct. FD2S
