Great video! And yes, please let Algoriddim fix the problem you pointed out. That is the one reason I can’t easily switch to Djay Pro. I like to switch between iPad and Macbook.

@@MixMasterG Yes, DJCU makes lives for a DJ nerd like me a lot easier! I use Rekordbox, Serato and Djay Pro, so i LOVE DJCU! And the fact that it’s made in NL makes it even better 😎😎😎 #prouddutchy

thanks for this. I have had a strange issue where when I add like, 10 tracks to my iPad using the sync method. for some reason 1500 tracks are resynced. very odd.

not odd, if those tracks were changed since the last time (e.g. MiK, DJ software updating playcount etc) then they will be re-sync'd.

This was a really useful tip! I have a question: In order to keep a library sync between iPhone and iPad, the Djay library must be copied between devices, right? If so, will it keep the tag info and cue points of the USB drive when it’s used in any of those devices? Thanks in advance.

There is a bug in djay, this won't work for audio files on USB drives between macOS and iOS. The DJ Conversion Utility avoids that bug so that can convert cues/loops for tracks on a USB on iOS when used on a macOS device.

So MMG. Can you comment on best practice suggestions to import from cloud storages into DJAY. Why go through soo much trouble to add to DJAY via USB when we live in such a cloud storage world . For Example , what is wrong with adding via Dropbox , Gdrive , iCloud drive etc. My “USB “could simply be my cloud folder that I browse to within DJAY. using the exact same approach you used in this video . Thanks for your time .

simple answer: all of those cache their data on the internal storage, that is what a lot of DJs want to avoid. apart from the blackbox named iCloud and the need for a wifi connection if you want to use cloud.

I love this video… I’ve recently started using djay as a backup to Traktor and I have found this same problem trying to use my iPhone library on MacBook. I joined a Facebook user group and people don’t even accept there is a problem and tell me I’m doing something wrong, or tell me that the solution is “iTunes”… which is is not because the Apple iTunes / music app on ios can’t play music from external drives! I guess I just need to wait for them to fix the incompatibility. For now. I will continue making my playlists inside the iPhone app and not worry about transferring to MacBook.

@@chrisf5475 You can actually kind of transfer playlists created on djay iOS with tracks on external drive back to macOS using the DJ Conversion Utility's conversion to iTunes/Music.

I have actually just created some iTunes playlists which do indeed work great mon the Mac, because people kept suggesting I use iTunes to manage my library for both Mac and ios…. But of course the iTunes / music app on the phone only works with internal storage so that don’t work! Can your app convert an iTunes library / playlists from Mac back to an iOS compatible djay library? Thank you!!!

anything that runs iOS so that includes an ipod Touch, tho I'm not sure if those are even made and run djay.

with this method, is the media downloaded on the iphone/ipad or does it still stay on the external hd and djpro just stores the metadata of the tracks and then looks to the hard drive for the media?

media stays on the USB, metadata is stored in the djay database (which is on internal storage)

how many files can this method store? ive synced about 5000 files and now djpro is not letting me link anymore files

@@jaycue I don't think there is a limit, my collection is currently 120K of tracks
