Here's a great triad workout that you should try if you're trying to become familiar with triad shapes across the neck, and want to start making music with them. It's a cool and practical way of practicing, that'll help you visualise your triads quicker and be able to use them musically ✌️ P.S - The CAGED System is an INCREDIBLY useful tool for this! I have created an entire Masterclass on the CAGED System which I strongly recommend to everyone: getfretwise.com/courses/caged... 🙂

ABOUT ME
﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋
Hey! My name is Darryl Syms, and uh, well, I play guitar! I mean, I do a bunch of other cool things too - hopefully you can get to know me a little bit more through some of my videos.
On this channel, I predominantly post instructional videos to help inspire and encourage like-minded guitar players. My goal is to help you expand your musical vocabulary, to broaden your understanding of music, and to entertain. There are already thousands of guitar related videos out there, but I try to set my videos apart from the usual by exploring a modern approach, and by simply being myself! 💁♂️
Other than music, I have many other passions such as surfing, snowboarding, nutrition, advocating a vegan and sustainable lifestyle, yoga, photography, and a mixture of other things. Maybe you're interested in checking out my website: www.darrylsyms.com ✌️
I hope you enjoy what I have to offer, and I look forward to growing as a musician with you!
Thanks so much for reading! 💜

Absolutely fantastic exercise, I’ve been doing similar things recently to really cement this triad stuff into my brain. It’s taking me a while but it reminds me of when I first started playing and I learned the cowboy chords. At first it takes a while to remember the shapes and there was a lot of stopping and pausing before playing the next chord but with practice fluent chord changes become second nature. I am now going through all of this again with triads but I can totally see the benefit and need for it in my playing. Your CAGED course is amazing and is teaching me stuff like this I should have done years ago. I’ll send you a video soon of my progress. 🤘🎸🌍✌️🌏

Nice video.. Im studying theory. Is that a 4 1 5 progression in the key of g major or is it in c major with a borrowed 2 chord from another mode or something? Thanks.
@silverhandle
@silverhandle 2 жыл бұрын
I think it could probably be either? I’m seeing it as 4 1 5 in G major. Otherwise, it could be in the key of C major, with a 1 5 2, with 2 breaking the “rule”, right?

How do I know if it is 1st and 2nd inversion? Can anyone explain? 😅 I'm confused 😑
@DarrylSyms
@DarrylSyms 5 жыл бұрын
Depending on whether or not you start on the first, third, or fifth degree of the triad. First = root position, third = first inv, fifth = second inv. Check out my theory course if you’re serious about stepping up your music theory knowledge on guitar 🙂

What are G/B, D/A, C/G, etc. supposed to mean?
@DarrylSyms
@DarrylSyms 4 жыл бұрын
Slash chords. For example, G/B is a B chord, with a G on the bass (lowest note). H/K would be a K chord with a H on the bass... if there was such thing 🤪
