Im in a similar position. 2022 trd sport tacoma, it looks like Android Auto only works while the USB is connected... no wireless in 2022 is ridiculous

Hint for Android users: Make sure USB debugging is turned on, under developer options. Settings - Developer Options - Debugging.

The UK 2019 models have Android Auto, so it's not a major obstacle you have to go over. US 2019 models already have Entune 3.0, so why not fulfill what customers have been requesting for over a year for a free retrofit like your customers received in the UK? Why the delay?

I’m glad I lucked out and it came with my 2020 Camry. I just assumed that it wouldn’t have it since thethe Corolla and Avalon didn’t have it until I saw that feature on the car’s sticker price sheet.

The 2020 Prius Prime LE should really have an update to support this. The head unit is exactly the same as the 2021 (from what I’ve seen in the parts catalog), and I’d be willing to pay a few hundred bucks to make it happen.

I had Android Auto in the 2016 VW Tiguan... Traded in the Tiguan for a 2018 Prius C, mainly because I'm doing Rideshare now after being laid off due to COIVD... I figured the newer vehicle would just have Android Auto, but NOPE... And there apparently is no update to the fancy radio in my "top of the line" trim level Prius C... I don't understand why, I would image that there's some sort of software update that could fix this... Apparently there is a replacement radio for $$$, but I've become used to just using my Phone for Work / Navigation. I will 100% pay closer attention to vehicle features in the future... but in the meantime, the Prius C is AMAZING on fuel, and that what counts doing Rideshare.

Almost bought 2022 Prius Prime XLE today. But it doesn't have Android Auto. But the cheaper trim has it. Mind boggling what the Toyota management was thinking. How could they release such an advanced car in 2022 without Android connectivity? I really like that Prius but this is ridiculous. Oh, and no plan for software update. So, i didn't buy it and will not. Great job, Toyota :(

For as much as you pay for the car, shouldn't it already be included in the vehicle. I don't want to be downloading an app and hooking up my phone just to use a car GPS. My parents are not telephone savvy, so it's always an issue. It's ridiculous.

2020 Toyota Camry using Android Auto with a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and a USB cable. If I disconnect the cable and then connect the cable it will not connect to Android Auto unless I turn off the cars engine, and while the USB cable is still plugged in, start the car and then it will connect. If I disconnect the USB cable from either the phone or from car should I have to turn off the engine then turn the engine back on for Android Auto to work? I have the latest version of Android Auto on my cell phone and I also hoping to fix the problem did an a software update on my car radio with no change. I have times when Android Auto drops out and won't connect until I pull over shut the engine off then back on. I have tried several know good cables and all have this same issue. Using the same cables on my computer for file transfer show no issues of disconnect from my computer.

Really wish you guys could add this to the 2018 Camry. My insurance plan requires that I don't use my phone at all when I'm in the car which is more than acceptable, but it would be nice to be able to quickly adjust directions in Google Maps on Android Auto instead of having to find a place to park to do one thing for a second.

2024 Toyota Crown. as of 5-4-24 it is one month old. Android Auto suddenly removed VLC after 2 weeks from the options on screen. I only use VLC for media playing. It put iHeart radio in its place on the app screen. What happened there?

@@toyotausa It's hard to believe a $40,000 top of the line Camry doesn't offer what an $89 JVC radio (model KD-TD71BT) does. I just installed this radio in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have full control of both Spotify and Pandora using wireless Bluetooth.

I went to Toyota of Richardson yesterday to buy a Prius Prime and they told me the 2021 Prius does not come with Android Auto. The parts manager even state it's not something they can order on a Prius Prime. Is this a mistake?

I bought a new phone, Galaxy S21 and when I make calls thru whatsapp in Toyota Sienna ,sound does not play thru speakers but phone only. It does play thru speakers if make voice call. It was never an issue with my old phone. It does work in different Toyota model. Any idea? Update: actually it's the S21 phone bluetooth issue. I disconnect from bluetooth, make the call & and then it goes thru.

To make it work properly you need a phone with V.10 or higher You also need a USB Data lead, not a charging lead. This is important, otherwise it will keep disconnecting.

I think I have this problem. I have the cable connected but when I try the voice commands, it says "UBS is busy to not connected" Then when I bought a new cable, it would say something like "Android Auto has disconnected, please disconnect"

Hi, Brian. Yes, depending on the vehicle the phone will have to stay connected. However, the wireless Android feature is standard in selected models for this year.

Does the telematics data from our cars get correlated with data about us from other sources and sold to businesses for marketing purposes? If this does occur, it could cause people a lot of distress, making some wonder if they are losing their minds. Think lawsuits.

the mobile phone should be connected with cable to access the Android Auto? the entire time as as long as I'm using android auto?

Please see your Multimedia System Owner's Manual on establishing a connection. In addition, for step-by-step directions on set up, or more information about multimedia features in your vehicle, we encourage you to visit our Toyota Connected Services Support website. From here, you may input your VIN and find many support topics to explore. 👍

if you touch the volume it changes to something else. why cant i adjust volume and stay on the same audio location?

I just bought a 2020 Prius LE and it does NOT have Android Auto support, only Apple Carplay. This is really problematic as we only use android phones. Do you offer an update?

Now, how to use the voice commands. I seem to be following the wording of the commands but it keeps saying "USB is busy or not connected" But IT IS!

@repentjesusiscomingsoon1529 it started working again . Once I updated my phone, it stopped connecting and says it doesn't recognize the device.

I just bought a 2024 Camry and what they don't tell you in this video is that you can't use Android Auto unless you have your phone plugged in with the USB connector. It's not wireless. It sucks and make me a little disappointed that I bought a Camry.
