Just made a 30m Optical HDMI and CAT 6 cable reel using this stuff. Took me about 2 hours, but I managed to get it all on.

oh so that's how you are meant to use it. i actually tied the ends of the sleeve and put the knot inside the sleeve. it was difficult but it worked :D

Chicane - Saltwater is the music. Haven't heard that in a long time. Anyways, excellent tutorial.

They make a braided sleeve cutter. It cuts the sleeving by passing the sleeving over a thin heated metal plate. The metal plate melts the ends together to keep them from fraying. It's a lot quicker that having to use a torch to melt the ends. Now, when you feed the wires through the sleeving you don't want the ends of the wires stripped yet because it will fray the stranded wires as they get caught on the mesh openings. What I have done is make a tube that is cone-shaped on one end and has a bottom hole on the other that is just big enough to insert your lead wires. (Looks like a long shell casing) In my case it is 5 wires. Place the tube over the wires until they hit the bottom of the hole. Then just push the tube and wires through the sleeving. You still have to expand and contract the sleeving like in the video to actually feed the wires all the way through the sleeving.

Dude thank you! Just started using PET and the fraying ends are driving me nuts. Will definetly heat the ends before I go trying to push my wire through

much easier way is to use a stiff steel or copper wire, bend the end 180deg, so you have a round head, put it through the sleeve untill it comes out of the other end, tape all wires on the stiff wire, make the connection smooth, no sharp edges, and pull the whole damn thing through the sleeve. Takes only 2 minutes, no mater how long the sleeve is

Great video. Ive ordered some 5mm braid for 4mm (12gauge) speaker wire. Hoping this will be enough taking into account the poly transparent sheathing. Im also hoping a hair dryer will do the job for the heat shrink.

That’s sounds fine. Hair dryer will work ok

Do you know why a light fixture came with a 2 inch white braided sleeve?

Will heat from a hair dryer be enough for the heat shrink tubing pieces?

Which Braided Sleeving is good for everyday uses? I want to use it on my earphones wire.
@morkthebuilder99432 жыл бұрын
Probably about 6mm braided will be good. Put a small bit of heat shrink on each end to stop it fraying out
