Dropbox is a file hosting service that has been around since 2008.
Dropbox makes it easy to save all your files from photos to videos to pdfs in the cloud.
This makes your files very easy to share, easy to access on any device from your Mac or PC to your iPhone or Android to your tablet.
It also reduces the risk of file loss due to hard drive failure.
I’m going to show you how to use dropbox from scratch and the best way to get started with Dropbox is by using the web interface at dropbox.com
Dropbox has several plans including a free plan to get you started.
To organize everything in dropbox, you can use folders.
To add files, you can upload files to Dropbox. You can upload any type of file that you want. You can also easily share files.

This has been very helpful to me as I haven't been using Dropbox much in the last year or so, but now have a couple of projects where I need to share some files that are larger than outlook will send. My only problem with Dropbox is the app doesn't work on my Win10 machine.after downloading and installing the app, when I open it, all I get is the File Explorer box for the Dropbox folder (there's no place for me to log-in). To open Dropbox, I must log in from the website and then my screen looks like the screen from this video.

Hello! Great video! The additional question I need help with is file sharing sub-folders. I am trying to have a main folder and only let individual people have access to each sub folder. For example - Time Sheet is main folder then I have an individual folder for each employee, but I don't want them each to have access to the others timesheet. It seems if I give them access to the main folder there is no way to control individual access to each sub-folder....I hope my question makes sense. Thank you in advance.

Great video! It answered a lot of basic questions for me in getting started with Dropbox. I have a few questions, hopefully they'll be of help to others in similar situation: 1- If I upload my MacBook Pro's 3TB Photos Library to my unlimited Dropbox account, will the file also use up an additional 3TB from my MacBook Pro's internal SSD? (I hope that the answer is No!) 2- Can I open this 3TB "uploaded" Photos Library from another MacBook Air, iPad, or iPhone that only has let's say a 256GB SSD? 3- If I delete this 3TB Photos library from my MacBook Pro's SSD, will it remain in Dropbox and still be accessed from all my OS/iOS devices including my MacBook Pro? Thank you in advance for your assistance!

I have two questions that you might know the answer for. If I use dropbox for a collection of large project files as "online-only" files, can I still open them with the associated GIS software on my computer or would I need to download them locally each time? The second is, if you use Dropbox as a back-up but you also want to have a secondary and tertiary backup with physical hard drives can you download the online-only files straight to the relevant back-up location in the hard disc?

You mention that you have Dropbox app video? But I can’t find it. Anyway thank you for sharing your knowledge. I subscribed 🙏🏽 I got the app and find it hard to figure out when people share a file/map and how to find it again without having to push their link ? There is home (new) but I find it hard to see in the app where thing are. So many double files already (only had it for two days)

I just watched your video on Dropbox. It is very helpful and you demonstrate your expertise on the subject. But I found myself pausing or replaying about every 30 seconds. It would be more effective if you slow down, repeat key concepts, and phrase important ideas in different words. "Repetition is the engine of learning." You're clearly a subject matter expert. But being an expert in a subject is not the same as being the best possible teacher.

12/01/2021: Thank you for sharing your knowledge with people like me who are using dropbox for the first time. I cannot see my own comment/note I wrote to a client when I shared a folder with them to download the files within the folder. I am sure my comments/note is in front of my eyes, but I cannot find them. Could it be the way I am viewing my dropbox account?

If you delete it, it will delete in the cloud too. You can just offline it. That way, it remains on the cloud but not on your computer. Right click on the file and choose online-only

I need the part where I move from dropbox back to desktop. A Folder with word documents in it I put in dropbox I downloaded it then tried to move from the download file folder into documents and the VLC cone showed up like it had changed to a media file folder??

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and I transferred all of my dropbox files and folders over to the new computer but a message or really a pop up window keeps coming up saying in bold print "Turn on accessibility", then in smaller print, it says to get the most out of Dropbox, select the Dropbox checkbox in Security & Privacy>Accessibility. Then it gives me the option in that little mini window to either select Learn More, or Not Now, or Turn On Accessibility. What is that about and do you recommend Turning on Accessibility for Dropbox? Thanks for any help on this.

When I open the Dropbox app on my laptop, no app will appear in the taskbar. Only Win Explorer's Dropbox folder opens up to the workspace. And it naturally looks very different from the view of Dropbox website.

If a shared file is edited will everyone with the link to the file see the edits or does the edited file now have to be reshared to see the edits? Can two people work on the shared files at the same time..ex Google drive allows all holders of the link to work real time together adding content and all parties can see the content being added real time. Or is this a just file storing system and any changes made by a link holder has to be reuploaded to drop box ?

Good video but one question. How come when i send a link from my iPad in Dropbox my clients get an error message saying they can’t download it. Indefinitely don’t want my clients being forced to sign up for Drop Box high appears to the case. I have don’t something wrong I believe
