Wearable Whisperer Great Video! Do you think the Fitbit Charge 3 will get some of the new features? For example: The sleep mode quick setting feature, agenda app, new clock faces and the ability to set alarms from the watch? Just wondering because the Fitbit Charge 3 hasn’t had any new features since release.

Thank you and great question! Unfortunately, I don't think the Fitbit Charge 3 will get any new features. It has been discontinued (Fitbit won't be manufacturing any more units) and replaced by the Fitbit Charge 4, and Fitbit will leave this difference in features as a reason for people to buy the Charge 4 over the Charge 3, or even upgrade from the 3. Sorry to be the bearer of not so great news.

My son bought me one for my 63rd birthday because I cannot do gym, due to hernia, prolapse etc but I do walk a lot. And all I can do is use the exercise-walk thing

Thank you so much for this video! I was going totally nuts with trying to get back to Home Screen from the goal setting feature and couldn’t figure it out. I can now resume my regularly scheduled programming after about three hours of trying to figure it out. I had no idea there were buttons on both sides of my charge 4!

Thanks so much for this. Ooh geez, yes, you are right the no-Spotify controls during exercise is sure to cause complaints. That's a really disappointing, silly discovery now that I actually have the thing in hand. The only time I actually want to use the watch to control Spotify is.... during an exercise session.

Hi there, your videos are really invaluable for us. Thank you so much for these. At 1:07 you mention the weight tracking is enabled and the 1:14 mark you have the water intake tracking on the watch itself. For the life in me, I can't work out how to turn these off in the watch? I've managed to remove the tiles from the app "today" screen but it still have not removed these two icons in the watch. I'm using the latest software update on the charge 4. As the Fitbit KZfaq Guru could you possibly help? Thanks so much. Kind regards.

You’re so welcome. And thank you for the kind words 🙏😊 Unfortunately, I’ve heard once they are on the watch, you can’t change the settings to remove them from the watch. I haven’t tried it myself, but the only thing I can suggest to try would be to sync, factory reset, and re-setup (making sure you keep the tiles disabled in the app). But if you re-enable the tiles in the app, they will likely reappear on the watch. It’s definitely frustrating to have such little customization control.

I am getting my fitbit today. I have viewed a number of youtube. There are a number of exercise modes. Do you always change the mode to yoga, weights, etc? Is there a benefit to changing mode? If you don’t change modes do you just leave it on walk to record steps/miles?

I always change modes personally. There may be a slight increase in accuracy.

Hi, I have a Charge 4. I am very happy with it until recently. The face light is very dim suddenly. I am not sure why and don't know how to fix it.

I'm guessing either the brightness is set to "dim" or the sleep mode is enabled. From the clock face, swipe left to reveal the apps and find the "Settings" app. There should be a "Brightness" section and you can tap on that section to switch between brightness levels. If that didn't work, find the "Sleep Mode" section (still in the Settings app) and turn that "off". Did that help?

Glad you found it helpful. The band is the extra band that came with the Fitbit Charge 4 Special Edition. You can't buy this particular color anywhere, but you can get a midnight blue or rosewood color. You’re welcome! Water can only be logged via the app for the Charge 4 (the smartwatches can log water from the screen).

Unfortunately, you do need a compatible smartphone or tablet to make it useable. You could potentially use someone else’s phone to get it out of set up mode and you’d be able to see your stats every day, just not the history.

Yes you would need to factory reset. But do be aware that calories burned are total calories burned including those that your body burns at rest. So you will always have some calories burned except right at midnight.

Sleep Mode and Schedule do not appear in my settings. So I'm not sure how to set them.

If you just recently set up your Charge 4, a second firmware or tracker update should be available in a few days that will have these features. (I don’t know why Fitbit implemented it this way and I actually mistakenly assumed it would all eventually come in the original set up update, otherwise I would’ve explained this better in my videos)

I'm considering buying this watch on eBay. It'd be my 1st watch EVER. And fitness tracker. This video is from 2020. Is this device still usable? Do Fitbits ever become obsolete?

You could get lucky and have no issues, but I personally wouldn’t recommend taking that chance. Fitbits aren’t as reliable as a Garmin or Apple Watch after 3 years. I did just see someone wearing a Fitbit Blaze (from 2015!!!) though, so I don’t want to scare you off if it’s the only watch that fits your budget. I’m not sure how much you found the 4 for, but the Fitbit Charge 5 is on sale at Amazon for prime day (July 11-12 only, you’d need Amazon prime but can start a free trial with a new account). If that’s still too much an Inspire 3 is a bit less expensive, but you could get a new one with a one-year warranty (compared to the 4 on eBay I assume). So, it’s possible the Charge 4 will be useable, but make sure the eBay seller is reputable. In general, Fitbits and the fitbit app are usually a good first introduction to fitness tracking. Unfortunately, it is not possible to remove or reorder the stats you see when you swipe up from the clock face. I agree it should be possible.

If you have "do not disturb" on your iPhone, would that disable the alarm on the Fitbit?

No, alarms are not affected by Do Not Disturb (alarms will still go off, even if your phone or Fitbit have Do Not Disturb enabled).

My daughter uses her for school and it vibrates alerting her for example drinking water. Can sue put those on do not disturb so she doesn’t get alerted during school?

You’re welcome. The water notifications are separate from other notifications and considered “Health & Wellness Reminders”. You might have to turn them off completely as it seems do not disturb isn’t stopping them. To turn off completely, start from the Fitbit dashboard, click on the icon in the upper left corner, find your device in the list of connected devices, tap on the device, scroll down to find “Health & Wellness Reminders” and tap on it, then tap to disable any reminders that are currently enabled. Sorry I don’t know of a way to keep them on only certain times. Hope that helps.

You can only log water intake in the app (not on the charge 4 itself).

Are you sure you have a "Fitbit Charge 4"? I think the "Fitbit Inspire" series only swipes up/down. It's slimmer than the Charge 4.

Is it just me or is the screen disappearing constantly and she has to press the button to bring it back? That’s extremely frustrating once you focus on it. When you’re learning you need to look at the screen longer. It disappears in like 4 seconds!

When I made the video, that was the longest the screen would stay on. Fitbit has recently added a Setting option to keep the screen on a bit longer, but only up to 8 seconds, I believe. I agree it would be much better if I could prevent the screen from disappearing, but nothing I can do about that!

I was embarrassed to look it up, but i had to. What did I have to look up? How to go to the homescreen again. I kept getting stuck and very confused. In my defense, who thought the indent on the left would actually have that as a function, i didn’t even think of it as a button

I wouldn’t be embarrassed. I got mine as a gift, there are no instructions enclosed on how to use it, and their website leaves a bit to be desired. Instructions on how to set it up, but not how to use. I found my way here, and am glad I did. 👍

Thanks! I don't think I do, but I'll add that to my list. In the meantime, you should be able to swipe up from the bottom of a GPS-compatible workout mode and there should be the option to turn on/off GPS from there.

The Mi Band is so much more intuitive. For example, you tap the screen to wake it up, none of this button madness. If only it were more accurate.

There is a setting to keep the screen from timing out so fast. Uses more battery power, so maybe not desirable all the time, but would have been nice for this video.

Why is the timeout so SHORT? Is that the default?

That was the only timeout option when it was initially released. They do now have the ability via an update to have the screen stay on for up to 7-8 seconds.

After the new update you can now switch between, GPS, Connected GPS and no GPS.

the clock is only in the 12 hour mode not 24 hour mode. very disappointed in this. i have never encountered that with any device.

I tried to use a Charge 4 a few months ago and discovered it wouldn't synch to any device I had...very disappointing...I don't necessarily change my phone very often (3-4 years) so android stops...Doesn't synch to Surface...all saw the device Bluetooth but no synch! I sent back for full refund...that was nice so I'm still using my Samsung N910/Android 6 and Alta HR...they indicated in tiny type somewhere but I never saw it...I'm 79 and do about 50-70 miles a week. The devices and versions would be nice or good advice where it is written down!

They don't last they are built not to last.. Me and sum friends owned fitbit 3 and all our watches stuffed out. If I brought a casino watch it would still be working.
