brilliant videos. thank you for your guidance . not intuitive is words you've chosen to communicate and that sums up what Ive been experiencing while attempting to navigate loading Native instruments with Kontakt,Komplete Kontrol sonic couture virtual instruments and juggling IOS iPad Pro with Mac book Pro with M1 silicon and the determining whether Au, AUV, VST. etc. this is less than intuitive and less than easy. thank you for helping. I look forward to successfully being able to use and record a new 3rd party virtual instrument and share it. Baby steps I suppose. thank you for being articulate, and excellent at what you're committed t.

Brand new to GarageBand. Bought the mini the other day as well as the M audio 192/6. I set up the input/output settings in GB, however, it seems as though the input level is on about 7-9 to get decent volume from my acoustic guitar. Does 7-9 not seem rather high?? Maybe that's normal and I just don't know any better since Im new to this. My condenser mic is an Audio Technica AT2020. Phantom power is on as well. Thanks for any information you can give. Your channel is helping a lot :)

Just getting back to recording after not doing so for many years, I'm new to GB but am learning quickly. Your videos are a godsend, Thank You! I have an Allen and Heath 16-2 live Mixing Board (great) that I've used for many live performances, I would imagine (rather than purchasing a Focusrite A/I) this would work bode well as a terrific audio interface? All I will need is to buy to XLR to USB cable adapter to go from my board to my MacAir, right? I still own (and am dusting off) one of the most amazing condenser vocal mics I've ever heard, (an AKG C535B) that I used to use when recording on my Tascam 38 back in the day! I imagine this setup will work great with GarageBand. Also, can there a sound advantage of just playing my guitar "the old school way" through the board into GB using some great analog pedals?

Hi I just subscribed. Learning it all from scratch but since I’m not a musician I’m going to be using the program on my MacBook for mixing the sound of my KZfaq videos my theme music friends are creating and voice overs. So, my question is (and perhaps further research will answer my own question) do you have any tutorials on just doing Voice over and podcasting? I’m using a dynamic mic connected to iRig to do the voiceover part? Hopefully you won’t suggest there’s a better way (ie usb mics.) because my budget is small and that’s what I have already invested in! Lol. Thanks in advance!

Hey Patrick. Why does my project grow in length each time I lock/freeze a track? My song is only 60 bars long but there are now 200 bars of blank space at the end. It’s also not easy to grab that top right hidden end stop to reduce the length back down. On iOS it’s very easy to type in the section lengths. Is there a way on Mac? Thank you.

I wrote you because I have a problem with my library: when I try to download it, at the moment when it asks to install and I say yes that always gives me an error; I tried it at least 5 or 6 times with the same result. I'm pretty new on mac, so could you give me some tip for that? Thanks a lot!

Hello, helpful video thanks! I'm just in the middle of (apparently) downloading the entire sound library which seems to be taking ages. I have more than enough free HD space and plugged in to the net via ethernet so not sure why it's taking so long! It is downloading because the little circles are spinning next to the samples which were greyed out! Can you tell me if this is normal? Do you know how many GB the whole sound library takes up please? Thanks for the help!

What if you're recording hardware synths? Do you select instrument or microphone? You'd be using an interface either way.

How do I import like, idk, a KZfaq karaoke version, how do I do that ? I know we are suppose to convert it but it doesn't seem to work in Mp3 form.. Any advice?

You need to just drag and drop the file you want to use into the GarageBand window.

Just started Garageband with my iPad Pro and Arturia Keyboard. Lot of latency. Too long of time between key press and sound. No problem on Mac Mini M1.

If you open the library window, there’s a ‘revert’ button bottom left that will take the track back to its initial settings.

I'm having an issue. I have a brand new Mac with the brand new Garage Band. When I get into the loops, none of them will actually play sounds...only the counter goes when I click on an instrument and hit "play"...anyone else have this issue?

@@TheGaragebandGuide any setting that has distortion blows your ears off its just screeching sounds have tried every imaginable hookup you can think of and every idea you can find on youtube just don't work on MacBook air GarageBand should be called garbage band. It will play clean settings that's it.

I have garageband for ipad. It is not set up like this nor do I have all these options. Its this a paid version? I do not even have all the guitar chords....I play the guitar, drums and piano and its hard to do anything with this....is it bc its a limited version of the software?
