Simple: Arrows to Motor First Number means (Turns the machine has to do) and second number means (Turns the machine outputs) This means: Lower output, less fuel used. Arrows to propeller First number means (Turns the machine has to do) and second number means (Turns the machine outputs). This means: Higher output, more fuel used. The exact math behind is something I don't know at hand and probably is not that exact in this game. Clutches are basically a stop/go mechanism in this game. When you press clutch in a car, it unlocks the gear-ratio so you can use your manual stick to get into a different gear. When you let the clutch go the gears go back in together and use the new ratio. In this game its just a 'breaker' more or less. At a specific point (usually at .3 if I am correct) the clutch grips but gives out less power. The more you use the clutch (up to 1.0) you give full power to whatever comes behind. Thats why some engines die when you use low rps and give full clutch instantly. Stay crunchy.

It might be because you're increasing the rps and as a result the engine doesnt have enough torque to spin the propeller

Thanks, i used a Medium diesel engine, then i can use lower RPS to gain higher speed when gearbox pointed towards engine. my small engine didnt go any faster when gearbox pointed towards engine because RPS was 4, too low

not currently. you could if you want to, but from testing there is no performance benefit

If there is too much load on your engine when the clutch is engaged the engine will stall. I would consider adding a gearbox for a higher torque ratio

It depends on weight, aerodynamics etc. I would consider testing top speed at different gear ratios on torque and rps. You can never be sure

@@BigmanBoi I've run it through a 3/1 then 9/2 for highest rps possible, but I really don't have a good understanding past getting the prop moving as fast as possible, I posted it on workshop if you're interested/wouldn't mind taking a look. Holy cow! 81 engines! I'll have a look as soon as I can, but just remember that highest rps isnt always your best option. Sometimes higher torque or even less weight is better for speed

On that test bed i'm not sure. However, it wouldn't really matter since there isn't a load on the prop. I used the same ratios on each side, but different configuration to demonstrate the idea of rps vs torque manipulation
