Great lesson! Probably the most practical and useful approach to intervals I've ever seen.

Claus you are always an inspiration! I linked this video to my "We Guitar" Facebook page, because it's just so important for my students to understand this. Thank you for all of your content. You are truly one of the best on youtube, I always come away with a restoked fire to play and learn when I watch your videos, and I pray to God I am able to inspire that in my own students. I pray that you are blessed beyond reason, my good man.

Excellent lesson for me as in East Indian music, the melody is the king. So this lesson lends to me play interludes in many different ways. Thank you Claus for this outstanding lesson.

Uncanny timing. I discovered a little corner of this just a week ago and it's made a huge difference in my confidence and enthusiasm for practice. Your expansion of the subject is exactly what I needed next. Thanks

Great lesson Claus! This is an area I definitely need to work on. While I don't tend to simply play through the scale shapes like you have cautioned against (up and down sequentially). I do have a bad habit of playing the intervals in a rather predictable way. This definitely gives me some great ideas. As I have said before you're free lessons here on KZfaq are such a great supplement to your paid programs. You have this habit of reminding me of things I need to focus on, or (like this video) making me realize aspects of my playing that need Improvement. Often times when I watch your videos I am able to make improvements in my playing without even having a guitar in my hands. Because the next time I sit down with the instrument I have a new idea to focus on. Other times you cover topics that I am already familiar with or even learned in one of your paid programs. As I said, these videos often serve as a friendly reminder that I very often need. It's like having someone tap me on the shoulder and saying "hey don't forget about this... This is important!" These "reminders" have been sooo helpful to me along the way. I think it's so important to find a teacher whose style really works for you, and the internet age makes this really easy to do. What I would have given to have this kind of access to information 20 years ago... there are a ton of instructors right here on KZfaq, and I subscribe to many of them. David Wallimann, Steve Stine, Rick Graham,Tyler Larson, just to name a few. There are so many good ones, and I have learned a lot (and purchased programs) from some of them as well. However there is just something about your style that really resonates with me. No one has done more to help me actually improve my overall playing and technique than you have Claus and I cannot thank you enough for that. Seriously... It means more to me than you will ever know.

Anybody knows how to get that nice sound that Claus is using at the beginning of the video, where all the notes seem to be blending together in a whine? I have both compressor and overdrive and don't seem to be able to get there. Help, please.
