I wish I would have found this video about 6 hours ago:) I have spent many, many hours trying to wrap my head around this curriculum. THANK YOU for making it so easy to see and understand. I am still very skeptical about how/if we will use this at home, but I appreciate the basic understanding that I now have because of you! We have been a CC family for 10 years and one of my biggest struggles is that I have a hard time with how CC presents information, it usually doesn't make sense to my brain and I feel like it's a runaround just trying to get answers and see how it actually works. You are a blessing.

My daughter is in B which I’m directing but I decided for us at home we were stepping back to build a better foundation. It’s 2:13 am and I feel I can get some rest then get back at it tomorrow. So extremely helpful! I have tried to wrap my head around how exactly we are supposed to use this. Even after practicum and watching the book club videos and being a person with a math degree, I still felt like I needed more details (a recipe) on what exactly to do with this. Do you happen to have something showing which Fractions and Notations cards coincide with each week's concepts? I'm envisioning labeling each side of the cards with which week the concept is introduced. I would just love something that lists out the cards and which week they go with.

At this point it just looks like something that could consume my entire day. My daughter hates math and I'm trying to find something that will suit her needs without causing her to have a complete meltdown. I was told that art is integrated into the curriculum. How does that work?
@AmbersClassicalClassroom
@AmbersClassicalClassroom Ай бұрын
The art is part of the exorcism that we go through on community day. I think you’ll be amazed at how much your child learns at community day, making it require less time than you think. Also, it’s a new way to approach math that might take your kids dislike of math to excitement about math.

I don't have my notations and fractions flashcards yet, but am wondering it there is a rhyme/reason to how the cards are arranged with respect to the content on both sides of the cards. One of my frustrations with the multiplication cards was that it was virtually impossible to separate out the cards for the current week of Math in Foundations.They just all seemed mixed up which is fine for drilling after a student is familiar with them all, but makes it difficult to sort out a subset for the current week's memory work.
@AmbersClassicalClassroom
@AmbersClassicalClassroom 2 ай бұрын
I understand what you are saying. I guess that’s the downfall of having two flash cards on one card (by utilizing half of the card). I will say that they seem to keep concepts together though. So the Greek letters have a Greek letter on the back. So if you introduce alpha you probably could introduce beta on the same week (and that’s the front and back of one card).
