This video tutorial explains how to increase your android phones internal storage memory up to 512GB by using a Micro SD card to expand internal storage or use portable as storage. How to increase memory size in phone with the formatting and options explained, note that your phones maximum addable memory card size value may be different, on most modern now phones it's 512 gigabytes but it may be more or may be less. Check your phones specifications on manufacturers webb or instructions book. Hope this will help you get a nice phone with awesome increased storage!

The option for "how will you use this SD card" didn't come up for me. I've unmounted the SD card and then restarted my phone but nothing has come up. It's registering the SD card but still won't let me use it as storage. Any help?

One thing I think will help is moving my photos & recordings to my new sd card. That should free up the internal storage I need. I hope!

Good video, but here is some extra clarification. When formatted as internal memory, you can no longer access your phones memory, as the sd card replaces your phones memory (SORT OF). Any files you previously had in your phones memory will remain there but any new files will go on the sd card. File managers will no longer be able to access your primary memory. As an example, if your android device has 64 gigs of ram and you format a 64 gig sd card as internal memory, your device will treat it as a total of 64 gigs, not 128. if you only had 16 gigs used before you formatted the sd card as internal memory, you will loose access to the remaining 48 gigs of ram. Some software can not be installed when using this arrangement as it requires to be installed on primary memory, not extended sd memory. Even if you connect your android device to a computer, your computer can only access the sd memory. If your memory is full because of apps and you want to add more apps, then this is a good option. If your memory is full because of media then format the sd card as a portable device. Its really too bad that the sd card can not be treated as extended memory as we use to be able to do in older android versions. I had software that would allow me to move apps to an sd card, but the Google gods have removed that ability. I guess they just want to force us to keep purchasing new devices, its the same reason we can not install new android versions on our devices. imagine if computers worked this way?

Will this procedure work for an "LG K-20 Plus" (android 7.0 noughut) ??? My sd card installs under the battery, will this work on my phone? Doesnt work,you need a p.c or laptop whith a s.d card slot to put the data from the old sd.card to the new s.d card.

How to make a Folder shortcut (which is in SD card) inside a folder which is in internal memory in Android. e.g. folder "A" with 15 GB is in SD card and I want to make shortcut of folder "A" inside folder "B" which is internal memory. (Like Windows where we can make Shortcut of any folder inside any folder/ any drive). File Manager don't show all folders of both SD Card and internal memory on same page, It only allows to view folders of either internal or external memory at a time. Reply please,

What you can do is to use the sd card as internal memory instead to make them share space, otherwise this is not a common android feature to add shortcuts to folders.

@@WW5RM not yet. I think I'm going to have to go to a computer store and have attack their format my SD disk on their computer and or root my phone and then he can make my SD card internal storage. I'm pretty tech-savvy and I've tried everything that I can do I even got developer permissions on my phone and went in and tried to figure it out but I just can't find any way to do it and my desktop is packed away in the garage somewhere and you know I can't figure out like how I can get that out of there and into my room. I'm planning to move from where I'm at and you're so so I really don't want to get all set up. All I have the tablet and my phones and I'm just afraid that what I read somewhere it was like they're just not allowing people to make your SD card into into internal storage anymore because the companies want you to buy a phone every year so they can make a lot of money. It's pretty ridiculous.

@@ValiantFerguson yeah I'm pretty sure it has to be made internal by the device itself. I did it to a windows tablet awhile back. I'm wondering if rooting will let you do it. I'd rather not root though. But yeah it's no reason to not allow it! It's just another drive. They keep coming up with ways to try and force us to buy new! My tablet crashed a few days ago. This new one is only 32gb and it's filling up fast already! I could have spent $100 more for 64gb which is twice what I spent. But I figured I could do this format as internal in the future and add another 32gb or more.

Will it wipe out my SD cards data already on there,if I format it as portable after I'm only assuming that I may have set it as internal,now I'm realizing this and wanting to format it as portable in order to store apps as well on it. Im afraid though,that I will lose all the things I originally put on it as internal I believe. Makes sense to me bc I'm not able to put my apps there to make storage and for instance,Facebook,shows me the option yet says not enough space. Anyone know?
