Always put the binder hook up the chain first so that the binder is easier to hook the bottom hook as the weight of the binder draws the chain tight making it easier to quickly tighten up the chain… Walla!

I got mine from Nortthern Tools and I realized they got stucked and I couldn’t tie the chains When it got locked I could not use the lever to loose and tie My thoughts was Northern Tools are cheap that’s why. Please help so I can throw them away and buy the real/quality ones Lastly, where to buy them

With all equipment, things can go wrong. I don't think ratchet binders are safer, they're just easier to operate. Just my opinion. I'm a small guy, so they're definitely better for people like me. Yet, I can pipe down on lever style to get a good hold, but i'd need to check load after about 50 miles or so. Usually i'd end up drawing in a couple chain links, but not always. I guess every load is different. Also, keep in mind, those little notches that you have to switch (with ratchet binders) can give you headaches in subzero temps (especially in rainy weather). A regular lever binder will be easier to deal with in those conditions. I've had to cut straps, but luckily I've never had to resort to cutting chains. I bet people have done it though.

Keep em lubed up and close them after using and store in a toolbox not in a open headache rack lever style binders are good for the back chains because load always moved forward
