Hi Pal, when you buy a 24 hr ticket on Ruter including the airport zone, zone 2 and the City centre zone, does it cover the vy train connecting to the airport as well? I need to travel from the airport, go to my airbnb in Lorenskog, then go to city centre via bus, and take a return train to the airport the next morning. Will this whole journey be covered in the 24-hr ticket?

T-bane is short for tunnel-bane 😊, refering to how it runs through tunnels underground ! And as additional info, you can ride all the different means of transportation on the same ticket (i.e. take the trikk and then a boat to the islands)

Very informative! When I visit a city for the first time, I personally prefer to walk everywhere (if distances are bearable) so that I can see how’s the city, not just the touristy areas. But, of course, if you don’t have much time, it’s great to know the means to move around. I’ll definitely check the trikk and the T-bane next time I’m in Oslo 🤗 Btw, I agree with other people commenting on the quality of the video. You’re putting a lot of effort on it and it shows 👏☺️

Bravo Pål. This was so well done and so much information packed into a beautify enjoying video. You nailed it with this one. 👏🏻The huge impact it has to show what you are talking about. Such a huge different in quality. Just standing in front of the buss, or standing on the boat talking, or go off at the fram museum like that. Perfect. There is only one thing I found that could serve as a distraction. Some of the times, the music was just a little bit to loud over your voice. it did not "duck" enough. Other from that. I'm talking notes. You really impress me with these videos. Keep it up mate 👏🏻🇳🇴

I'm visiting Norway right now and I wish I knew this useful information before 😂 but it has been pretty entertaining figuring out how the transport system works here. I love how clean and organized the city is and how kind and friendly people are. The only thing is that you must prepare your pocket because your estimated budget possibly won't be enough to afford every expense in here. Oslo is kind of expensive but it's totally worth it since the place offers a lifetime experience and unforgettable memories.

Great video Pål. Can I ask you a very practical question please. When you buy a ticket on the Ruter app, how do you enter and exit metro stations, buses, and trams. As an example, in London you have to touch in and out on the Tube but only touch in on buses. In Stockholm you only touch in on the metro (not out) but on trams an inspector scans your card/app. I think this is really practical information for tourists. Thanks.
6 ай бұрын
Hi Dean, good question! There are no barriers for going in and out of metro stations, and you board buses and trams through any door. No tapping in or out. If you got the ticket on your phone you are good. If you don’t it and there is a control then you are in trouble ;)

So if you are going to Oslo then buy a 7 day pass for zone 1. Going from the airport you can add the zones that you need for a small extra fee

Very impressive. our city Victoria, BC is much smaller but I wish we had such choice in transportation as Oslo. The larger city of Vancouver has some more choices for transportation but I don't think it is as good as Oslo's. And Oslo looks so clean.
Жыл бұрын
Hei Louise, thanks for watching the episode. I've heard Victoria is a beautiful place, and hope to visit some day. Oslo has gotten a pretty decent facelift during the last 20 years and is now more cleaner that its ever been, and the public transportation is pretty darn good :)

Useful tips, thank you! I have a citybreak planned in May, so excited 😁 What ferry route do you recomend for a tourist? I mean what is the most spectacular one? I am little bit confused which one should I choose. I would like to have some stops and hop on back on the next one as well.

Great! I would recommend the B1 Øyene :)

Hi, I wonder what are the green busses seen along side the red ones? Great video of the system, greetings from Helsinki, Finland.

Thanks! The green buses are regional buses that has their end/start station outside of Oslo. They are only relevant if you are traveling out of Oslo

Such a well done video, will definitely use your tips once I'm situated in Oslo. I'll be arriving by Ferry (another one of your informative videos!) in a few days and can't walk easily to the bus stop. Is Uber available in Oslo? Thanks again

Hi Manu, glad you enjoyed the video! Uber is not very available here, but there is a taxi stand to the left outside of the ferry terminal

Very nice information. The public transportation system looks very similar like in Helsinki, Finland. I have been to Oslo only once. I was there with my motorhome, spent a night in Bogstad camping and then on the next day drove near to the center, parked there and only walked around. Unfortunately I didn't have more time to spend there that time.

You welcome! I hope you'll make it back to Oslo some day. Your comment made me curious about testing out public transportation in Helsinki
@oh2mp
@oh2mp Жыл бұрын
@ welcome! One difference I noticed is that Helsinki has only one metro line that has two branches, and trains are used more for local traffic than in Oslo. I surely will come again some day. I have been driving around your country here and there between Mandal and Vardø and will do it more in the future :) By the way that "trikk" is a nice word. In Helsinki slang trams are called "spåra" which is pronounced so that "å" is short. That's of course "stolen" from Swedish.
Жыл бұрын
@@oh2mp aha, spåra, like a "track"? Fun to know. Nice to hear you've enjoyed driving around in Norway. So have I! :)
@oh2mp
@oh2mp Жыл бұрын
@ yeah as a tram is officially spårvagn in Swedish. Finnish does not use letter å at all, but in slang words like that it can appear :) My latest trip to Norway was in autumn 2021 when I drove to Vardø and Hamningberg. I like to visit extreme points.

@ I’m watching again as we leave next week. I’m American, so I don’t use public transport as it is not efficient/accessible where I live. I was feeling a bit intimidated about navigating public transport in a foreign country but this video has been very informative and has put me at ease. thank you so much for posting this guide!!

Great video! I'll be coming to Oslo next week and i would like to ask you if you suggest for a 5days visit to get the 7day ticket from Ruter or pay for the Oslo Pass which includes free public transport & the museums?
11 ай бұрын
Hi there, it really depends a bit how many museums you plan to see. If you do the 72hours pass you probably need to enter into at least 6 sights to make it worth it.

Thanks for a great video, we are coming to Oslo as part of a cruise at Christmas on 2024, can you tell me how far away the centre is from the port please?

Hi there! The cruise port is right downtown, next to the Akershus Fortress. There has been talk about moving it further out into the fjord though, but not sure if that is going to happen in 2023

Hi Pal, Very helpful information and video. Are there taxi's and/or uber available from Oslo airport to Rosenkrantz gate at 10:30pm. What is the best transportation from airport to Rosenkrantz gate at night?

Yes there are taxis available. Expect to pay around 1000 NOK though, and make sure to agree on a price before getting into a taxi. Personally I would ride the VY Local train to the National theatre station and walk a few minutes from there.

great video! I'm visiting for the first time at the end of May and this is very helpful! I'm from Winnipeg, Canada! I'm flying into Copenhagen first, staying for 4 days, then taking the overnight Ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo, staying in Oslo for 4 days, then renting a car and driving to Bergen (and maybe other places) for the next 4-5 days, then coming home. Is that a good plan? Any other suggestions? I've never been to Scandinavia before. I only have 2 weeks of Vacation (Yes Employers in Canada are just as bad as the ones in the US about giving Vacation days). I plan to record some of my driving in Norway like you see on my KZfaq channel in Canada!. Cheers!

Hi Phil, that sounds like a great plan! You could consider driving the E39 from Bergen to Ålesund. It’s a really nice road trip! Enjoy ☺️

Thank you very much for such an informative video! I have a question though: as a sort of an old school person, I wonder are there ticket machines at the bus/tram stops or in the metro? Or app and 7eleven etc. are the two options only? (writing from Reykjavik where it is almost the same + you can pay the exact amount of cash to the driver) takk!
7 ай бұрын
Hi there, we used to have machines, but I believe all of them are gone. You can pay cash onboard bus and ferry (but you can not bring larger bills than 200 NOK, and the price will be higher)
