How To Use SSGI in Unity HDRP for Dynamic Global Illumination (Unity Guide 2024)

In this video, i will show you how to set up SSGI in Unity HDRP the correct way to get the BEST results of indirect lighting simulations. I will also show you how to solve the off-screen issue by using reflection probes. This video uses real time reflection probe with time slicing feature enabled (only exist in latest version, that is Unity 2022 LTS or above).
Recent hype in unreal engine 5 lumen system makes it seems like unity does not have any solution whatsoever to compete in simulating indirect diffuse lighting, therefore in this video i will show you one of the methods to achieve similar lighting by using Screen Space Global Illumination (SSGI). Usually SSGI is best used in outdoor scenes and not indoor scenes where light are hard to come inside the camera frustrum. Unlike Adaptive Probe Volume (APV), SSGI does not need you to do any baking.

Looks good. But this is extremely demanding, having reflection in real-time is not a good setup. Its going to capture scend from 6 cameras every frame. Try the new Light Probe Volume

Yes, probe volume can be a good alternative especially for people who have high-end gpu that can bake fast, i didn't use APV in the video because i can't bake it (takes too long for my gtx 1050m). Baking the reflection probe instead can also be an option if the scene is mostly static, but it still depends on the needs.
