How to use the e*thirteen trs crank arm bolt removal kit. I came across a 2017 Commencal mountain bike that had an older version of the trs crankset that did not have a built-in self-extracting crank arm bolt. e*thirteen sells you the bolt kit to remove the non-drive side crank arm successfully. I learned that the newer version cranksets now have the system built-in just like all the other manufacturers that sell high-level components.

I had to cut the spindle between the bb shell and the crank arm after breaking the plastic part that you turn after crankset install to remove side to side play I used hacksaw on spindle between bb shell and crank arm I'm happy it worked out I saved my nukeproof scout frame from disposal 😁 now I'm installing the sram descendant dub boost crankset and bb cups

Well done. The difference may be grease or no grease on the initial install. Mine had grease on the triangle end. 🏁⚙️

@@BikeTeacher I had put grease on the spindle triangle but for some reason it got frozen I will show it on video soon I installed the truvativ descendant dub crankset though very happy about it 😁🤘

Cool video thanks. I am having a bit of a novice nightmare. I have a broken oval ring and I have been told that I need a special tool to remove it? Although the bike shop has told me that they can replace the BB. Might be a silly question but how can you replace a BB but need a different tool to take the oval off? Does he mean that he can get it changed but I need the tool cassette lock ring? Any help would be great. Thanks

Not sure, I did one of those ands it may been a while. The bb in the bike in the video I believe is a pressfit. It gets knocked out and pressed in. E13 probably has their proprietary tool for the chainring. He probably means they can change the entire bb and cranks to a different system. Maybe?

What about when the crank arm is stuck the crank arm thread's got stripped and now I have to find a way to remove the e*thirteen crankset off my frame I viewed a video of it happening to someone on KZfaq but I didn't think it would happen to me as well I'm stuck now 😥

I saw the video, that sucks. I guess I got lucky. It would have been time to get creative for removal. One person suggested to ride the bike and the pressure of the pedaling would eventually loosen the crank arm. That's one option. You would somehow have to black off the hole in order for the inner bolt to hit up against. Cut pieces off weakening the crank, not pretty but carefully done it could work. Did you ever get the cranks removed? I’m having the same issue after ordering the crank extractor tool and noticing the crank arm threads are stripped.

E*thirteen needs to change that style it's a problem seriously I'm sure you'll get one of their crankset that doesn't easily comes out I have the e*thirteen trs+ 🙄

What problem did you run into? Crank bolt stuck and or get stripped?

@@BikeTeacher the crank bolt stripped the the crank arm I put it in all the way but it still stripped the threads on the crank arm I think the spindle triangle part is stuck in the crank arm

Unfortunately. Some items of there's do share common tools. I think. Or that may be Race Face.

I have removed mine several times, always aware not to strip the threads but yet I still stripped them today :( I'm 99% sure I had the tool all the way in. I think they are just stuck for some reason. Very poor design by ethirteen

@@maxsijbers9143 I didn't try after that. I went to the bike shop to have it rethreaded but now I need a new tool since the threads on that are also worn. If I try again, before inserting the tool I will try to get it out a bit but hitting the crank a few times with a rubber mallet.
