Nice video. Very much appreciated the breakdown/cleaning sections (and use with the smaller cup). The comments on the needle sequence are also something I haven't seen before. Well done.

If you use 3M’s PPS system in place of a gravity feed cup, you can literally spray in any direction. Even upside down. Plus you’d have a built-in strainer, can store paying in the cup, and you wouldn’t have to clean a cup afterward. They do have a smaller cup option as well if you’re concerned with regularly spraying in tight areas.

Great video,. Well done. I have the exact same setup. Kitchen cupboards sprayed two years ago. Look new today. Ps I built a rough pine spray booth, foldable, a box fan with a furnace filter and a dollar store table vynal cover as a spray booth. Perfect.

Thanks for the video. I will unbox my Mini-Mite 3 with GXPC gun tomorrow. Hopefully I can spray the stain I bought on to my patio furniture. I went with that particular spray gun, gravity fed, because they said the smaller cup can help you spray inside of cabinets and also spray ceilings better, as you can adjust the position of the cup. I also bought a cap recommended for stain and a flex hose whip for better maneuverability. We shall see.

Nice video. I have the same sprayer except the gravity fed T70 gun, I use the 3m PPS cups exclusively, I've never used the paint cup it came with. The flexibility that the PPS offers, to paint in any orientation is huge, upside down, sideways it doesn't matter. I mostly spray Renner water based urethane, but I have sprayed a bunch of stuff with good results. I have sprayed a lot of the Emerald Urethane that you showed and I'm not in love with the stuff, it stays tacky for far too long. The Renner dries hard and doors are stackable the next day. If I'm thinning or adding hardener, I use a scale to calculate the ratios, I want consistency For my makeshift paint booth, I have fan that blows out my garage window and an AC filter in the second window for incoming air to keep bugs and dust out. It removes the atomized over spray very nicely. I also never spray water through it to clean it. I'll just disassemble it and use brushes every time. Spraying the water is just messy and unnecessary. I too use the 1.3 almost exclusively.

Thank You for taking the time to make this video! A couple of questions please.: Have you used any Water Based 2K Paint. My Wife and I are Painting our Kitchen cabinets White with Water Based 2K Polyurethane (Tinted to a Sherman Williams White)Renner 643 Primer and 851 Top Coat --plus Hardner Catalyst in all coats. We have a Fuji Q5. Do you know if a 1.3 tip would work? If so how much thinning was required? We are struggling with the setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

nice review. You think the mini mite 3 would sprat latex ok ? to need the 4 ?
@MichaelBrown-vq4fd
@MichaelBrown-vq4fd 2 жыл бұрын
Do you think disassembling the gun and placing the parts in an ultrasonic cleaner would work for quick washes between sprays and then a more thorough cleaning periodically? I use an ultrasonic cleaner on airbrushes and it does great, but that’s not latex paint.

It's interesting to see you use a 1.3 cap with paint. On the chart it recommends a 1.5-1.8 cap. I'm having a bit of issue with texture on a shiplap wall I'm painting. Not sure if i need to dilute it more or just increase the fluid -- maybe it's not enough fluid? I don't know, more experimentation is needed.
@ARayofSunlight
@ARayofSunlight 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don’t follow all of the “rules” 😉 I would dilute the paint more to decrease the texture. You could definitely try to increase the fluid too though. But I would bet thinning it out more would help the most. Goodluck! Oh also, I feel like I don’t get as much texture with the 1.3 tip.

You would achieve a much better paint job if you kept the spray gun parallel to the work piece at all times. Because you have almost a 45 deg angle for most of the time you are depositing a load more pant at the bottom of the fan than the top. Also take your spray gun past the end of the work piece then release the trigger. With just these 2 disciplines your results will improve vastly. Good Luck.

Looking to get my first sprayer. This was super helpful. A question about the noise... how loud/quiet is it? Compared to I dunno.. vaccum, shop vac? Docs say the Q series is very quiet. Would you agree? Thx!

I would say it’s a little quieter than my shop vac. But it’s not quiet by any means. My surfprep sander and small senco air compressor are by far quieter.

Hey! I started spraying paint with my Q4 and have some questions: 1. Do you use primer before painting? Do you spray from the same 1 qt pot or do you have multiple pots (one for primer, one for paint)? 2. I noticed paint starting to seep into the bottom pipe of the check valve. You mentioned in the video to rinse it but I couldn't get water to come through the tube just by rinsing alone. Can't you just spray with an empty pot to blow air through the check valve to keep it unblocked? 3. How do you fix runs? Just sand them off? To prevent them, should you prefer to do multiple light coats vs. fewer heavy coats?
@ARayofSunlight
@ARayofSunlight 4 ай бұрын
Hey! 1. Yes I prime before painting for best results. I do not spray my primer because it isn’t waterbased and it’s a pain to clean. It’s a great idea to keep them separate, but I have used primer in the same container before. 2. If I’m understanding correctly, that part I pull off and then run water through it. Spraying will not get it to unblock. 3. Yes, to prevent runs spray light coats instead of thick coats. I also try to stick around for a few minutes after I spray and check to make sure there are no runs forming. If they are forming, I brush them away while the paint it wet. That way I don’t have to sand thick dried paint off. I do usually lightly sand the brushed paint once dry to completely remove any possible brush marks. Goodluck!

Hi, I have a quick question. I also purchased the Q4. Do you ever thin your primer? I l’m using the general finishes enduro white undercoat which was designed for spraying. I’m wondering if I should still thin it or it’s good to go. Thank you!!
