In this video, you will learn how to use The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%.
Targets: Regulates sebum, minimizes pores
Format: Water-based serum
Regimen Step: Apply before oils/creams
Conflicts: Avoid use with pure Vitamin C (ELAA/LAA)
Time of Use: AM and PM
The general rule of thumb for the order of application is:
Water-based serums
Anhydrous solutions and oil formulations
Creams and suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, apply them based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). It’s also recommended to apply eye serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing.
A maximum of two serum formulations is recommended in a single regimen.
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!

Thanks, this is exactly what I needed. My face is finally calm and relatively clear of rosacea, so I want to continue improving my face with this product. I've heard that my face might get worse before it gets better with Niacinamide. I put it once on my face but washed it off immediately as I got scared bc of the tingly sensation. My routine is very simple, 2 max 3 products. I'll give it a try again following these simple steps 🙏🏼

Hey :) Thank you so much and thanks for joining!🥰 It's best to choose the products based on your skin concerns, and not what's currently trending since it may not be for you and can make your skin worse instead of improving it. I’ve been looking at this product for a few days. I really want to buy it, but I’m afraid based on people who have said its bad for them. I know everyone has very different skin, but I’ve been searching for four months for a product that would work well and doesn’t have any long-term effects. I’ve never had much of a skincare routine, just whatever I had lying around. This video and comment section was very helpful! I might go with a different product from The Ordinary as far as a hydrating product, thank you!

Melissa Van Dijk hi!! Thanks so much! I have somewhat sensitive skin, a lot of products can make it burn. Then again, I’m not sure if that what from lack of hydration because I came to realize I never had a moisturizer. I’m so amazed that you responded so fast and you’re so informative 😁😁

@@spookyhamilton2732 I used to have a very sensitive skin and it would start flaking every time I cleanse my face. Well it turns out that I actually had dehydrated skin since I didn't use any moisturizer and my cleanser was quite harsh. That was a good few years ago though. I've used a moisturizer ever since and now my skin is more resilient. It rarely gets dry now. I suggest you start using a moisturizer for a few weeks to really hydrate your face. Also use gentle cleansers to make sure you're not drying your skin further. As for hydrating products from the ordinary I'd suggest the hyaluronic acid serum.

@@noorsajjad5770 Hey! :) What else do you use? It could be purging - in that case, keep using it until your skin has adjusted to the serum. However, it could also be the strength - in that case, use a Niacinamide product that contains less than 10%, like 4% or 5%.

hi! first, thank you so much for making these videos! i really wanted the ordinary products, but it was really hard for me to figure out which ones to use and what order. it was really overwhelming, but these videos helped a lot, so thank you!! and also i know lots of people comment this, so it must be very hard to reply to everyone and it must get very tiring doing the same things, so i apologize, but i was just wondering which order to put the Niaciamide and hyaluronic acid in. I believe you can use both at times the same time, and I know you’re supposed to do the most necessary one first (for me it would be Niaciamide as I am currently struggling with acne) but I also know the hyaluronic acid can suck out the water in your face or something like that so you’re supposed to dampen your face before you put it on. I dont know which one to put on first because if I dampen my skin after the Niaciamide I dont want to rub it off. I also got the salicylic mask, and I was wondering how many times I can apply it and if there are any products I cant use when I use it. I also heard it can be used as a spot treatment, so how would that work? Sorry if these are stupid questions haha. Thank you so much again.

Hello, I love answering comments, but the KZfaq Creator Studio makes it incredibly challenging to reply, but I think it's not meant for that. I hope that they will improve it soon. The short answer is none of it matters, and it's not Hyaluronic Acid that you are applying; it's a derivative that's called Hyaluronic Acid. Melissa Van Dijk thank you so much! one more question though sorry! do you know if it’s okay to refrigerate the ordinary products? i know it’s not necessary but i did purchase a skincare fridge and i don’t want it to go to waste as i am replacing a lot of my skincare products with better products for my face. do you know if it has a negative affect on it or should i not put them in my fridge? thank you so much again!

@@ellachoi6634 😀 Well, I have asked the Ordinary, and they said the following "We do not recommend putting The Ordinary products in the refrigerator unless it says, "Refrigerate after opening", on the product label, like our Retinoid products." However I have asked them in the past, and they said when the temperature is over 30 Grad Celsius for a more extended period, it's recommended that you do so, but the products can easily handle temperatures up to 30 Grad Celsius

I'm glad i found this video , initially when i first used the product , I massaged it all over my face . Then i started to notice some peeling , i thought they were my dead skin cells and naturally assumed that the product was exfoliating my face instead of hydrating it (like the product outlined it should be doing) . Thanks for the informative video though , i guess it's due to me not applying the serum properly . I'll try out the product again and see how it goes !!

Hello! I used to use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser and it cleared up my acne. However once I stopped it came back, not as bad as before but it’s back. Recently I realized I have pretty bad breakouts so I’m going to start using it again. I want to make my routine Morning- peach and lily Hydrating gel cleanser Niacinamide + zinc And moisturizer with spf Night time - Benzoyl peroxide Niacinamide + zinc Moisturizer Twice a week I incorporate the ordinary peeling solution or does that mess with the Niacinamide?
@MelissaVanDijkOfficial

It looks like a good routine. You can technically use The Ordinary Niacinamide after the peeling solution, but in my experience, it's best to only use hydration after the peel to prevent skin irritation.

Thank you for doing this video!! I just bought three ordinary products: the Niacinimde, Lactic acid 5% and the Caffeine solution. I have found them really good so far😍 just a question: I have been using the Lactic Acid 5% every second day and I use it before the Niacinimde- is this correct? I assumed it was because Lactic acid is an exfoliater which comes after cleanser. So that is what i do but if this is wrong please let me know🥰

Hmm, you got me 😆 The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first) And a maximum of three serum formulations in a single regimen It looks like your order is correct. But it's a direct acid. So does it come first 🤔 I am not sure I have to do more research!

It does contain Niacinamide but no % is mentioned. There’s info on the internet that the total % of AHAs present in it is around 12%. And yes, I would say that it is harsh.
