Having used this a few times now, I originally follwed the original video from Peter Parfitt which is great and I recommend whole heartedly. I have made this as I feel that because Peter developed and invented this system, he is not looking at it from a "first time" point of view.
Please do check out his video though, it's well worth getting as much info as possible before using this fantastic tool. I hope this video can help even just a tiny amount!
After having a lot of questions about the brackets on my bench, head over to ‪@dashboardportableworkshop‬

Nice job! Just a quick question. The brackets on the side of the table. Are those MFT mounts for the saw track?

Hey, thanks so much for your feedback and question. The brackets are from dashboard pws (the link is in the description) and indeed for the track saw. Check out their channel as there are many videos explaining how it all works. It's ace! Thanks again buddy 👍

Nice table Mr! I noticed at 3:42 into your video you made the same mistake I've made. Directly after drilling the hole through both rules the top rule should've been moved then the pin installed to drill remaining holes. Reason being the pins only have enough shoulder to protrude through one rule. I had noticed this after making my first 90° so when i checked it was nearly impossible to get the pins through on the 9th hole because it had shifted ever so slightly. Luckily its only one roll that i caught before continuing. Perhaps it may never be noticed but when you turn the rule to the straight line of holes the pins are much easier installed and removed.

I appreciate the fact that you produced this video to help people but without audio I find it very difficult to glean any information from what you're showing. While I'm trying to read your text I'm not watching the video. I'm a slow reader and trying to stay up with the text and the video is impossible and I would venture a guess and say there is a lot more people just like me that got frustrated and clicked off before they ever were able to finish the video please add audio to all of your videos so I we all can enjoy them. I am sure there are some folks that cannot read at all and depend on audio for information.

Hiya, I really appreciate this comment thank you. I am going to do a second version of this but with audio, even if it benefits one person (hopefully you) then it's worth it! I'll try to do so within the next few weeks as I do have a custom bench to make as an order. Thanks again. James

Why do you need so many precise dog holes in over 45 years woodworking i have never needed all you need is random holes and holdfast don’t waste time and money a solid bench and good vice anytime

It’s called Pythagoras theorem, if you want accurate and easily repeatable cuts. Maybe try it, even after 45 years there’s still room for improvement. Thanks for watching!

Sorry, u made a mistake. Do not measure against the edge of the ruler, align the ruler to the line you made. Peter Parfit, the creator of the jig, told so in his video about. The holes in the ruler must not be in the midddle of, or straight to the ruler. Nevertheless, the holes are perfekt square, but it is not guranteed that they are suare to the edge of your tabletop the way you did it. I made the same mistake first time i used the jig... and wondered why my cut were not suare to the tabletop. Gladly i could cut the top a little bit, so trat everytyhing fits now. Took me long time to figure out why it was not square.
@affinitydesignsworkshop
@affinitydesignsworkshop Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment however I strongly disagree. The outcome will be with holes that are square to the work surface if you've cut it straight in the first place. Why would you not have a parallel cut for your worktop in the first place, this would be the "mistake".
@affinitydesignsworkshop
@affinitydesignsworkshop Жыл бұрын
I also think it's unwise to start a reply with "u made a mistake" I didn't, I've simply done it in a different way that produces the same outcome. Thanks again for your comment.
