Recycle N Save is a Joint Initiative by F&N and NEA and supported by FairPrice to place 50 Smart Reverse Vending Machines across Singapore by March 2020 to encourage recycling of used plastic drink bottles and aluminium drink cans amongst Singaporeans.

this machine was also available at a fairprice outlet near me but just for a really short period of time. i guess the reason is simply because people treat it like a quick cash grab rather than having the heart for recycling. our culture isn't ready for this, it must really start from young and an example will be like japan.

Ah now so less but like I put in 80 bottles(I don’t search for them) from my home like my family too I have 80 cent voucher and bought 500ml carrot juice and payed an extra 70 cent well not bad at least I do this for fun

Ironically after I created this video, I have not used the machines anymore as they were always full in the timings that I went. I understand as of 10 Jan 2020, you need to deposit 20 items instead of just 4. Please see excerpt from CNA. Based on CNA News dated 14 Jan 2020: SINGAPORE: On Monday (Jan 13), there was no one using the reverse vending machinesat Our Tampines Hub at 7.30pm. The machine dispenses supermarket vouchers in return for plastic bottles and aluminium cans. The sight was a stark contrast from the long line of people who turned up with multiple bags of items at around the same time four days before. The difference? Since Friday, recyclers have been rewarded with S$0.20 in vouchers from NTUC Fairprice for depositing 20 items. Previously, they needed to pop just four items into the machine to earn the same amount in vouchers. When CNA visited the hub on Friday, the day the change was implemented, the machines were deserted...

great demonstration! I'd like to ask what happens if we put the unqualified bottle/can inside the vending machine?

It will reject it and roll it back to you. Even qualified items may get rejected sometimes, need to try repositioning again.

@@Philipnguhienkwong Some items that came into Singapore via parallel imports and not sold by the major supermarkets, the barcodes cannot be scanned

Does Milk bottle count as recycling material for the machine?

As long as there is a bar code on label and it is something NTUC sells, you can try. But I would advise you to bring extras to standby for failures.

Hi no longer available. They ended the initiative prematurely as they are launching a new one in a few years. Now we just put into blue bins

How does recycling vending machines make money?

Recycling company would take these items and convert it into a form that can be used as raw material and can be sold. That is what I think.

The RVM no longer gives you any rewards after 31 Jul 2023. There was no prior notice. A very disappointing development. The new beverage return scheme would only happen in 2025.

@@SuccessforLifester Sweden is the most and best country who recycling stuff plus Sweden buy Garbage from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany and United Kingdom so they can ballance their recycling process
