I would highly recommend hanging first then watering. I messed up while trying to hang it and my back yard stank for a good day or two even after hosing it down.

I can't believe how good these work.I think its attracting more than we had.Is this normal?
@WhyRescue3 жыл бұрын
We get this comment a lot! The trap is only attracting flies from about 20 feet, depending on wind and air flow. Who knew you had so many flies around!

Is it normal for these to fill with water after a rain? Mine was pretty useless after it filled with water
@WhyRescue2 жыл бұрын
It’s not normal, but if the trap is at a slight angle, receiving a lot of “sideways rain” with wind, or it has rained a downpour more than the usual rainfall, this can happen. Please email info@rescue.com and we will make this right for you.

I bought that exact same bag at Walmart and put in next to my trash bin outside and in 7 Days the oder was horrific it was Mega gross. I literally caught more than what the bag could sustain I had like three thousand flies, it was so bad that larva was starting to form inside the bag I had to dispose of it in another plastic bag and threw it in the trash and it took me like 5 hours to get rid of that oder on my clothes
@dylangaradyn67342 жыл бұрын
How long should I change it? I support flies could breeding in and out the bag and make the population even more?
@WhyRescue2 жыл бұрын
Fly Traps should be disposed of when the trap is full, when the trap dries out, or after 30 days - whichever comes first. If you see flies breeding in the bag, that shouldn't be a problem as long as you follow the disposal guidelines. While the trap still has liquid and isn't being used past 30 days, the newly hatched flies can't leave the trap. Hope this helps!
@2008hec2 жыл бұрын
Can the contents be composted (attractant + dead flies)?
@WhyRescue2 жыл бұрын
We have not tested fly trap contents in compost to know for sure, and flies do harbor a lot of bacteria, but we have heard of some users adding the trap contents to their compost. Because it's officially untested, we can't say composting is an "approved" method of disposal for fly trap contents.

This just attracts even more flies
@WhyRescue3 ай бұрын
It is amazing to see how many flies are in your area once you hang the trap! We recommend hanging the trap 20 feet away from patios, decks, or outdoor living spaces to draw flies away from where you want to be. Rest assured, the trap doesn't attract flies that aren't already there on your property, and it keeps them contained from laying eggs for more flies.

@ramza6752 жыл бұрын
@@minnymoon1360 lol at :58 poor dog ahahaha its like hot rotting fish and rotten eggs, garbage, and like a weird chemical smell almost like medicine/pills. If you walk over this bag when its in use it might make you gag, on a hot day this really has a range to it the smell. I would consider it cruel and unusual punishment to have a dog near this thing.

For the 2nd stupid time, I cut the bottom off!! Didn't learn my lesson from last year. It's the stuff in the bag that throws me, because it's wrapped in plastic and I thought I needed to take that out. grrrr

What device should I use to hang this off the ground?
@WhyRescue3 жыл бұрын
You can hang from a tree, a fence post, shepherds hook, hanging plant hook, or a nail on the side of a structure. We’re available at info@rescue.com for questions.
@joeyb73733 жыл бұрын
How long does the bag need to be hanging is it days or weeks?
@WhyRescue3 жыл бұрын
Are you asking how long before the trap starts catching flies? Minutes, or a couple hours at most depending on temperature, time of day and the fly population. Are you asking how long the trap lasts before you need to hang a new one? The trap will last about 30 days in the average yard, less if you have a high population of flies and the bag fills before 30 days. The trap will keep working until it is full and no more flies can get in, until it dries out, or up to 30 days - whichever comes first.

@@hildaqueen It's possible you have encountered a counterfeit product, and should return it to Amazon. Authentic RESCUE! products will always have a bait pouch. Does it seal back up for disposal?
@WhyRescue11 ай бұрын
Hi David, The top does reclose, but it is not a watertight seal. We recommend placing it in a plastic bag and keeping it upright when you dispose of it. Personally, I like to wait until trash day to take mine down:) There is a video on how to dispose here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m9OmdtZ9msy7o30.htmlsi=4bV12lSaKM9W0Nif

What's in the bag that is attracting the flys ?
@WhyRescue3 жыл бұрын
There's a water soluble pouch of powder, and when water is added to the trap, it releases an odor attractive to flies.
@Thedirtylittlesecret Жыл бұрын
Aka manure.
@DBBlue15 күн бұрын
It attracts flies but they just stay on the top inside the bag then flying away. None has fallen into the water. How come ?
@WhyRescue15 күн бұрын
Flies shouldn't be able to get out of the trap once inside. It might take a few hours for them to drown in the water, but they shouldn't be able to get out of the trap. You might make sure the top is fully extended and not leaning to one side. Please email us at info@rescue.com and we can help you.
