In this video lesson, you will learn how to use the words buy and purchase. Vocabulary represents one of most important skills necessary for teaching and learning a foreign language. It is the basis for the development of all the other skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, writing, spelling and pronunciation. Vocabulary is the main tool for the students in their attempt to use English effectively. When confronted with a native English speaker, when watching a movie without subtitle or when listening to a favorite English song, when reading a text or when writing a letter to a friend, students will always need to operate with words. ‪@learnenglishwithnanncy‬

Finally, I heard the real reason why all native English speakers emphasize the topic of formal/informal language so much.

Wait! Correction here: Who invaded and conquered England in year 1066 was not a William, but a Guillaume, given that he was a genuine Frenchman.

If you need to chase it - use purchase, if it's readily available for you to buy - just buy it.

I am a non-English native speaker but I have always associated the word purchase with large transactions, i.e. tax free purchases, car purchases, and buy with small operations i.e. "Go buy some pizza".

Good morning, please if i say "" i wish i had never met you "" if i want to answer by using only "" either or neither "" i do not want to use other answers , why if i answer "" me either "" is not correct ?? Many people say best answer "" me neither "" !! But the main verb "" i wish is positive so why me either is wrong ??? Thank you Massimo from Rome !
@learnenglishwithnanncy
@learnenglishwithnanncy 8 күн бұрын
"me neither" is the correct answer. me either or me neither is used in a negative sentence. Note: If you have "not" you use either. If you don't have "not" you use neither.

In French, buy = acheter, not purchase.
@learnenglishwithnanncy
@learnenglishwithnanncy 5 күн бұрын
Purchase Origin: Old French Pourchacier: seek to obtain or bring about>purchase (Middle English) Middle English: from Old French pourchacier ‘seek to obtain or bring about’, the earliest sense also in English, which soon gave rise to the senses ‘gain’ (hence, in nautical use, the notion of ‘gaining’ one portion of rope after another) and ‘buy’.
