How to Use Tuya Homebridge Plugin to control Tuya devices from Apple Home app

We will install the official #Tuya #Homebridge #plugin so it will be possible to control Tuya smart devices using Apple HomeKit. That means if you have Apple device and powered by Tuya devices you can make them work together natively using the iOS Home app! I will show you how.
One of the main characters in today’s video is the Tuya Homebridge custom plugin which will help us to control Powered by Tuya (PBT) devices using Apple HomeKit. Tuya Homebridge plugin is based on Tuya Open API and it is officially maintained by the Tuya Developer Team. In other words if you follow this tutorial and make this work once you will able to enjoy it and control your Tuya devices from your iPhone, iPad & Mac for a very long time.

Thanks for the guide. I have done everything and all my accessories are inside home kit now. My problem is that when I close the terminal, devices are not working. Terminal with QR code, must always run! And secondly, I have a delay of approximately 5 seconds for lights or switches to work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! I have a raspberry 3b+.

Hi Is there way to control Tuya lock using this ? GIMDOW smart door lock Digital Password Bluetooth-compatible from Aliexpress, I am not able see this using local tuya integration

Thank you for the tutorial. Unfortunately, even after I have linked the Tuyasmart app to the IOT platform (it can see the device on the IoT platform) and I scan the QR code on my Home app, after a while the app reports that the accessory is not found. I have tried pretty much everything but cannot get the app or homebridge to see the accessory. (BTW the account id and password in the json file are exactly the same that I use for the IoT platform as well as the app). Any thoughts on what I should do? Thank you

I have a dual band WiFi router and Tuya requires the device running Homebrudge to be on the 2.4 ghz network. When I turned off the 5ghz band on my WiFi temporarily I could now add the Tuya devices on my Homeapp. Once I did that I turned on the 5ghz network.

Thanks for the great tutorial! I have everything seemingly connected as you showed in the video but my Homebridge is not seeing my accessories. I have them added in the Smart Life app and they are showing up in the Tuya IOT platform just not in home bridge. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I had the wrong password in the plug in. Be sure you have the mobile app password in your plug in

It's quite easy to go above 50 devices when you add motion sensors, temperature and humidty and light switches in place. Depending how heavily you go into Tuya. There are so many brands using Tuya now. I think between some of the Tuya Zigbee and WiFi I am pretty close to 50

True, if you decided to go all in Tuya and your home is not small - 50 devices may not be enough for you! I guess the Tuya averaged this number from their analytics and decided that this number will be fine for the majority of the users.

@@KPeyanski At least there are other ways. It is surprising how quickly things can add up if you go all in on one ecosystem for windows, sensors, switches, lightglobes locks. One room I have has 3 light fittings, but 3 globes in each fitting. That's 9 globes, 9 devices if using smart globes just for the light in one room :)

Exactly! But for example here majority of the ppl are living in apartments with 3 or even 2 rooms. In such cases 50 devices should be enough… but again it depends!

@@KPeyanski Definitely. Small apartment, lets say 2 globe fitting in the living room, 3 or4 globes in the kitchen, 2 bedroom, lets say 4 more globes (2 x 2globe) . yeah, 50 would likely be plenty even going all Tuya :). It would be ideal if they could extend it to 100 devices in a future update though. Tuya are doing some good work in the Smart Home space right now with their Homekit and Home Assistant integrations.

I don't know, maybe there is something interesting in Docker hub that can be used right away, but the problem is that if it is not official it may stop working after a some time.

I don't have some of the API service...why is that?! And I cannot find them even in the store...I don't understand.. I don't have: - Smart Home Devices Management - Smart Home Family Management - Smart Home Data Service

I have followed this and installed the plug on my Mac and my smart life devices (hoover & outside light) don’t appear in the devices on homebridge & HomeKit. Any ideas why this would be?

Hey, lee did you pair your devices in Tuya Smart or Smart Life app first? Also did you link you Tuya account with the Cloud project?

I’m trying this but when I scan the QR code to link the Tuya app it tells me the data centre is wrong. My app shows Isle of Mann/United Kingdom but that isn’t an option
