Hi Julia: Congrats on getting the 9450 - you're going to love it. I see that you have several questions on this machine and my best advice is to join the Janome 9400 and 9450 Facebook group to ask these questions. Hi Kim, When I went to my local Janome dealer, I was informed that there wasn't this part listed as compatible with the 9400. I showed them a previous video of yours in which the stand was in view. Could you please provide the part number of yours to I can share with them? Thanks, Cherie

Hi Cherie: I don't have the box it originally came in any more, but checking on the Janome website, shows various part numbers depending on the machine. Go to www.janome.com/accessories/accessories/spool-stand-2-threads/ and you'll be able to see the one for the 9400.

Hi Bernard: I haven't used this stand for bobbins, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have used bobbins on the horizontal thread post in the machine and it worked fine.

Kim, unable to find the correct model # for my Janome MC9400QCP. Any suggestions?

It can be tough to find the right part sometimes because the description as to which machine it is for isn't always updated when new models come out but... I did find it! The part number that should work on your model is 859-449-012. The difference between the various 2 spool thread accessories is the small metal guide that fits into the top of the machine - some are round and some are square so you need to have the right one that will fit into your machine.

Love your videos Kim! I have a separate single spool base that I use with my Juki machine that doesn’t require an additional attachment for threading. Can one like this be used on the Janome? Also, I’ve been watching your videos about the Janome 9400 and have learned so much about it. I’m considering getting a new machine and am leaning very hard towards this Janome; however, I’m questioning the quality of the walking foot as it compares to the one on the Baby Lock Crescendo. Can you or anyone give me a comparison of these two machines? I use my machine mainly for piecing and quilting. Thx!

Thanks, Donna! You should be able to use a stand alone thread spool and put it to the side of the machine, although I haven't tried this. I can't speak to the walking foot on the Baby Lock machine, but really like using the one on the 9400. Part of it is plastic - just so you know. You can also get a narrow walking foot that is handy for stitching in narrow areas. There is also a new Janome 9450 coming out the end of October, so you might want to wait to compare the 9400 with that model if you are interested in purchasing a Janome. Good luck with your decision :)

Yes, there is a two spool thread holder that you can get to go on the Janome 9450. Check with your local Janome dealer to get the correct one for that model.

Once again you've helped me Kim! I have this spool stand attached to my machine but somewhere along the way I completely forgot (or maybe never noticed?) that it came with a thread guide to pop into the top of the machine to feed the thread through. I'm assuming you have to leave the top up on your machine when you're using it? I had another unrelated question re thread - I've been using the hew stretch thread by Coats and the thread keeps breaking and when I go to rethread I've noticed the thread is completely shredded. I changed to the Janome purple needle (after using a ball point needle) but it did the same thing. Should I change the upper tension do you think?

I do have the top of my machine up when I use the thread stand, but have wondered if it might work with the top down. I'll have to try it. I'm not familiar with the Coats brand of thread, but you might try a top stitch needle to see if that might help. It's often the eye of the needle and the groove on the front of the needle that causes shredding. If the groove isn't deep enough, the thread sits proud of the groove and gets rubbed as it goes in and out of the fabric. Ask for a Janome top stitch needle and see if that will help.
