What are you observing?

It's the most important indicator on my chart. I could trade just using volume alone. Volume indicates how strong a resistance and support level is. It also gives you an edge at anticipating whether or not price is going to fail or break at a certain level (support and resistance). Candlestick velocity backed by volume allows a trader to identify if a move was backed by institutional money, retail money, short covering, or profit taking money. It also allows you to be able to identify if a market maker is playing games or not. Volume indicates whether a trend is sustainable or not. It also identifies whose in charge buyers or sellers and who is trying to dry who up or who is trying to drive who out. Volume is the number 1 under utilized most important indicator and is a lost art in the trading world. Those who disagree simply don't know the proper way to use it.

@Mary Rose Corpuz you can try and identify the sectors or asset that are performing best in a current market and only trade within those sectors or asset classes. example, if real estate or energy is currently performing best, trade something within those areas that meets your specific trading criteria and avoid everything else.

I know you can change the settings in the volume options so that the volume columns will be the color of the previous candles close. If the candle is green but previous candle closed bearish the volume stick under that bullish candle will be red because it's showing the previous candle closed bearish. It's confusing. I think that's probably the settings they are using in that part of the demonstration. I wish they clarified if the volume settings were default in every example.

@@76biggdogg I wonder if that setting can be applied on TOS. I have it to where my candles match my volume bars but I never see them opposing each others color at any given moment :/

@Libbs The color of the Volume bar is only showing who was in control of that trade window. Either Bulls closed with more pressure or Bears closed with more pressure. **(CLOSED)** If the candle started GREEN and went REALLLLL HARD in action, it might have take a huge spike, but that doesnt mean it will stay green. It will turn back to RED if the SELLERS had control and pushed the price down BELOW the opening of that candle. However, if the buyers are still doing their thing, by ratio they could have had MORE activity in the trade but it didnt go their way in the end. This would cause the VOLUME to be green and the candle to be green

Did you ever find an answer to this question? I watched an 1 hr long youtube webinar where the individual explains this in detail. As per what I gathered in his video, the color does matter and it is a pretty good indicator of the next move. My issue using TOS is that my volume and candle stick are always matching in color so I am not getting a confused pattern indication like the one he mentions in this video.

@@ecantu1856 The volume has no color, it's not an indicator of more buyers or sellers, but just the number of exchanged shares. Price bar is the indicator of more buyers or sellers. You cannot have a red volume bar on a green price bar or vice-versa, it makes no sense, think about it 😉. If a red volume bar would mean that there are more sellers, then the price could not move up and be green. This video is BS.

Platforms are just coloring volume the same as price bars. Some of them have the option of disabling that and render volume with neutral color
