Careful Toby, if you relax too much then you forget to wobble your line, and people will work out that you are actually a very accomplished draftsman ;-) This was excellent, nice fast pace and highly motivating.

Glad to have found this video today. I had forgotten that some years back, I bought some Derwent watercolour pencils and a little water bottle brush. Great video, Toby. I used them to come in at the end of an ink/watercolour illustration last night to add finishing touches and cool effects. It felt safer and was imo successful. More predictable and gradual than adding more watercolour, and avoided the risk of looking overworked.

Thanks for the video, haven’t used these materials before. A sanding block after cutting the wood off can speed sharpening. Keep your finger pressed on the tip to keep it secured to the block, rotate as you push back and forth.

Love seeing how different people use pencils. Have you tried the Derwent Inktense pencils? Their colours are mind blowing once you add water. So fun to use.

I dont use my WC enough. I think they are a great alternative to graphite for initial sketches.

I tried out a small set of W&N watercolor pencils. Really disliked them, ended up gathering dust in a drawer.

I didn’t know that you had an architect’s nib; or maybe I did and I forgot 😂. How does it compare to the fude nib?

I used to sharpen my colored pencils that way but decided it was wasteful of color and didn’t provide enough benefit. I can do the same art with regular pencil sharpener.
